I don't see why everything else would be live only to use one line's worth of studio recording. If he sounded that good during the rest of the performance, I have no reason to believe that he couldn't do that one line to the standard of the rest of the performance on any given day.

I have the Blu-Ray and it has that. Making-of Smooth Criminal mini documentary is Blu-Ray exclusive so the DVD version doesn't have it.
