Kygo’s Remix of Say Say Say is out this Friday!

I said it before, and I'll say it again. Remixes suck....especially to an established hit song. This is a song that didn't need one.

MJ's career would be dead without the common people. That includes other artists who wanna sample him, people who want to remix his music, and even the duet singers they can get.

Sadly MJ himself released remixes of his already released hit songs, on Blood On The Dance Floor and Thriller 25.

You're a radio host?
Yeah...(Check out the Yay I heard Michael on the Radio thread :) I host a show called Urban Smooth on Dublin South FM 93.9 every Saturday night, I play at least one Michael/J5/The Jacksons every week. I do tribute shows for Michael on the week of his birthday In August. I done a Thriller 40 show back in November too. It's on Saturday night 07:00PM Irish time. Its broadcast on the stations website and on my SoundCloud too.

Michael's arm was twisted to do those remixes. He wasn't for them at all. It's all on record from those who worked with him. He wanted BOTDF to be an EP with just the original 5 but Sony strangleholded him to do it.

Thriller25 was just a way to do a release to get them off his back. All the remixes are garbage. In all honesty, the only decent remix of a Michael Jackson track is Scream Louder.

Not exactly, Sony wanted MJ to release Hot Street, Nite Line and She's Trouble for T25 but he decided to go for more remixes instead. He wouldn't be totally against something like this remix.

MJ has been releasing remixes since the 1980s. I will never buy his “I don’t like remixes” stance.
Actually, the 1970s because The Jacksons had some remixes and there were also 12" remix maxi singles for Ease On Down The Road & You Can't Win from The Wiz. Technically, the different version of Dancing Machine from the album of the same name & the Get It Together album was a remix. There's also a video where Mike is in a car listening to Ignition by R. Kelly. The version he is listening to is a remix, it even says so in the lyrics and that was the version played on the radio and used in the music video.

Yeah, I've often viewed his comments in context. He may have been unhappy at being forced to put remixes on certain projects, but other times have been totally happy for them to included. Doesn't really need to black or white in that regard.

Say Say Say had a 12" remix single when the song was originally released. I bought it and still have it. It was remixed by then popular remixer Jellybean Benitez.

Remixes sometimes are used as a crutch or as an attempt to change his art in a bid for more popularity. Good remixes done with passion are more valid. MJ also didn't like techno/house, I imagine those types bothered MJ more than genres that actually appealed to him.

listening to it all day

Not a fan at all. Listen to Whitney's "Higher Love", that's the treatment MJ deserves - this sounds like it was thrown together in a few hours.

MJ also didn't like techno/house,
I don't know about this. Mike appeared to like groups like Kraftwerk, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Pet Shop Boys, & Depeche Mode which are pretty much synth based dance music similar to those genres. House is just an offshoot of disco, and it some of it sounds similar to some 1970s disco tracks. Listen to songs from the 1970s like I Feel Love by Donna Summer, Nobu by Herbie Hancock, & Race Babbling by Stevie Wonder. They're kinda proto-techno/rave.

It was according to Rodney Jerkins he didn't like techno. Maybe house was not the same.

Kygo’s Remake of Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson’s ‘Say Say Say’ Scores on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Chart

Kygo commands a top 20 debut on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated April 15) with “Say Say Say,” featuring the track’s original superstar artists, Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson. The update arrives at No. 16 with 905,000 official streams and 400 downloads sold in the United States March 31-April 6, according to Luminate.

The official remake of “Say” makes for Norwegian DJ/producer Kygo’s 62nd career appearance on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, the second-most of all acts since the chart began in January 2013; David Guetta leads with 75. It also marks McCartney’s first appearance and Jackson’s second, after remixes of “Thriller” (by Steve Aoki, among others), titled “Thriller 2017,” ascended to No. 30 in November 2017.

Concurrently, “Say” starts on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales (No. 12), as well as Norway Songs (No. 17). The original classic spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 1983-January 1984.
