Oh, Lisa! Your music was great. Maybe not in the eyes of impatient record executives. But it was great.

"from here to the great unknown:

The one thing that she had always really prided herself on was that she was a great mother. She said ’My music wasn’t that successful, I didn’t finish high school, I’m not beatiful, I’m not good enough — but I’m a great mother."

Super nice interview with Riley (MJ ist mentioned very briefly at 44min):
I'm less than 15 minutes into this and I already like it more than all the other interviews put together. In fact, I stopped watching bc they were all so repetitive (imo) with boring, predictable questions and not enough time for Riley to respond properly. This one is so much better. Thanks for posting, great find! :)

Riley is saying that she kind of knew the moment her brother died that her mom would not survive this

My God, the amount of grief / grieving in Lisa Marie´s life ...

EDIT: especially loved the last third of the interview - inspiring and positive

I'm going to revisit the book and look specifically for the bits where Lisa Marie is being feisty and funny and just herself. All the mental health stuff is interesting and probably very valuable and it's definitely a huge part of her story but I feel like LMP is disappearing under the weight of all the grief in her life. I want to see if I can seek out the other aspects of her.

I just wanted to share about a song I heard.

I read YouTube comments about fans speculating on songs that LMP has sung about MJ. I thought I'd give some of them a listen. Not sure how it would even be possible to know which songs she actually wrote about him but my heart did break a little for her when I heard 'Just A Dream', her grief felt so raw, and it certainly felt like it was about him. I know in her book Riley mentions how her mother would see MJ in her dreams after he passed.

I even found the song somewhat relatable from a fan perspective. He bought so much magic when he was alive and sometimes it's hard to believe or even remember the level of excitement he used to bring because little else has had that effect since his passing.

And I know LMP can be a controversial figure amongst fans, but if that song was about him, she sang it beautifully for him.
