"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Michael has a 150,000,000 production budget alone not taking into account the massive marketing budget

More so why they can not afford to make it too long}
Unless it is a guaranteed box office hit, films will shy away from being too long as it is detrimental to screen/ticket sales. Who knows hat their box expectations are? I have not got a clue how this film fill will do…

I personally doubt all of this is true, since Evan Chandler killed himself the same year that Michael passed, and Jordan's mother June had been married to a man named Dave Schwartz even before they met Michael. As for Jordan himself, he said for many years that Michael never touched him, and he was so hurt by both his parents' roles in the scandal that he emancipated himself from them. During the 2005 trial, Jordan released a statement saying that he'd legally fight any attempt that forced him to testify against Michael, and lead defense attorney Tom Mesereau also said he had witnesses who knew Jordan, that were prepared to co-operate if Jordan wound up telling his story. After his father's death, Jordan pretty much disappeared, to the point that his mother and sister couldn't even reach him. Accusatory director Dan Reed also tried tracking him down to support Wade Robson & James Safechuck's allegations, with no such luck. So if anyone is behind this new lawsuit, I'd have to imagine it would be June or Dave Schwartz - they're the only ones with a motive.
Um, what?!?

Care to back up your claim where you say “Jordan himself said for many years that Michael never touched him”….

In the previous paragraph, it says "Tonight's newsletter takes a look at..." So is it really behind the paywall or is it in the newsletter, meaning you would just have to subscribe to the newsletter?
I put my email in and see if I receive anything I guess. Seems it was from last night though so I doubt it.

Whilst there will be plenty of material to make a film that’s about 9 hours long , it makes little sense from a commercial point of view.

You can have a great film but if the runtime is too long it can take a nose dive. Rather than coming away with the feeling that the film was amazing and wanting more, you could easily be left feeling that while it was good , it was far too long and it’s a one time watch only.

Fuqua is also no Martin Scorsese so I’d hate for the film to be a real slog.

Michael’s life was anything but boring however a film about him can certainly be!

I’d be fine with a 3 hour film but it has to be 3 hours of quality filmmaking and story. I do expect this film to be around the 2.45 mark personally.

in Germany all over the news they saying that the Story is Real and the Estate will care about the money for the new scenes and script.....

Now that we are talking about the allegations I always wondered about the 'KKK': Michael mentions them in D.S. and Katherine mentioned something about Sneddon's son being previously involved with the KKK. Anyone knows more about this??

Well surely the german media knows best

I hope its long but too long runtime might turn the general audience away when they hear about it. I think they want as big audience as possible. My prediction is 2 hours 25 minutes.
Titanic run time was 3h. Graham already has the pedigree from BR. So maybe...

But yay! The Joseph interview got me up again, too bad most people will ignore it but that's not what's important right now. Wonder when marketing will start rolling?

Michael’ Biopic Reportedly Faces Budget Woes Due To Digital Noses & a 4-Hour Cut—Lionsgate Eyes Two-Part Release

Michael’ is a biographical musical drama about the life of singer, songwriter, and dancer Michael Jackson. Directed by Antoine Fuqua, it stars Jaafar Jackson, Michael’s nephew, in his film debut, along with other actors like Colman Domingo and Nia Long.

The movie will cover Michael’s life from his childhood with the Jackson 5 to his final weeks before his death in 2009 and is set to be released on October 3, 2025, in the U.S. and internationally.

Originally set for April 18, 2025, the movie has been delayed for six months, and according to insider reports, it’s due to several controversies.

Earlier this week, a report from Puck revealed that Antoine Fuqua’s biopic had to reshoot its entire third act due to legal complications. Additional details have emerged, painting a picture of an extremely chaotic production.

According to ‘The InSneider,’ the film’s production was described as a “total dumpster fire,” with numerous delays and disruptions throughout 2023. Filming didn’t properly begin until January 2024.

Initial reactions suggest that Jaafar Jackson, Michael’s nephew, delivers an outstanding performance as the iconic singer, bringing Jackson’s look and persona to life with heavy prosthetics.

However, despite positive early buzz, the project has gone tens of millions over budget—much of it stemming from the digital nose that will be added to Jackson’s face during post-production, reflecting the singer’s evolving appearance through the ’80s and ’90s.

In addition to the budget problems, the Jackson family’s constant presence on set has created tension. Their overprotective behavior reportedly made production difficult, forcing Fuqua to direct remotely from his van to avoid confrontations with the family. Crew members even dubbed him “Vantoine” as a playful nod to his van-bound directing style.

Responding to ‘Sneider’s’ inquiry, Fuqua’s reps defended his preference for directing from his van, claiming it was simply his style.

The film’s latest cut ran close to four hours, and it still felt incomplete. With reshoots planned for March, rumors suggest Lionsgate might opt to split the film into two parts, aiming to recoup the inflated production costs.

That is indeed very interesting!! Many of us have been thinking in that direction anyway, but it would indeed be the first biopic to be made in two parts if I´m not mistaken.

I wonder what the total budget will be...

Plus, heavy digital treatment and prosthetics most likely means that the pictures that we have seen of Jafaar are not very representative. Meaning he will look more like Michael in the final version, no?

Reeks of media bullshit, completely doubt this honestly. At this point there should be a rule not to use these tabloid tier sources here

It seems there's an article to satiate the whims and wishes of every rando in here, from length of movie to year of ending to controversy.

I'm tired. Not coming back til there's a trailer.
Exactly, this is all fake news propaganda by the press. They are legitmately desperate to get this movie to fail, **** them. This is why Michael hated the media

The Chandlers and their accusations should appear in the film because they are part of Michael's art and therefore inextricably interwoven with him. If you were to change that, it would be a falsification of HIStory.

Exactly, the estate is multi billion dollars if those bastards at HBO can breach a contract to lynch Michael with that hit piece in 2019 then surely they can potentially take a hit to expose those lying frauds and their pathetic dad who killed himself after Michael died

Yes but it's not necessary to call them by their names or even see them to play a part in the story imo

lol The Same we was saying about the Michael Album before the Release… and everything was true. Or with Mikes addiction and the this is it rehearsal Problems everything was true. Cmon it is time to get out of our Dream World im personaly say that the Story is 96% true

Just believe these blatant hit pieces coming out of the woodwork
LOL

Even in death sensational stories about Michael’s nose continued to get churned out.

We’ve gone from having zero information to loads (all negative) in the space of a week.

I’m starting to think that it could be all media BS and done on purpose to get people talking and then boom…. This phenomenal trailer gets released at the Superbowl.

Although if they are truly going all the way up to 2009 a two part film makes complete sense. Part 2 would be so ****** tragic though 😞

They could just cut out the bloat for the theatrical cut and have a separate streaming cut, Blade Runner did that, Apocalypse Now, Lawrence of Arabia i think did that. Lots of classics had multiple cuts, although we also have Gone with the Wind the highest grossing film ever which is 4 hours long.

Theoretically the movie could be 4 hours long with multiple intermissions / IE: Popcorn breaks.

Exactly, as a guy that works at VFX Productions I can assure you it doesn't cost dozens of Millions for a Digital prosthetic.
I have a background as Photo Retoucher and although I didn't experiment on a photo of Jaafar myself, I can imagine that in order to make the nose acceptable, they will have to adjust other features too (interested in your view on that)

Millions would still be a ridiculous amount though

Then again, Part 1 of Michael's life is also ****** tragic.. :(

I'd say the chin and the eyes.

Any of you who believe this nonsense is a fool and an idiot

The only Jackson even involved in the movie is Prince, so that alone should tell you this entire article is a lie.
