she works in hollywood herself, she knows how certain things get picked and interpreted and the fact that she reacted so strongly to the harmless (although annoying) PR statement by a simple actor but couldn't call out all these newspapers and guilters with the same fervor says a lot.

someone who loves their father would never tolerate such insinuations, put yourselves in the same position. would you?

when I think of MJ behind closed doors and what Paris and his other kids would have seen…

Do you think they would have seen Michael without wearing a wig? We know in his autopsy he only had a little fuzz on his head and was practically bald.

Or other situations where he was drugged up on prescription pills or sedated like under Murray’s guard.

They no doubt seen a hell of a lot of personal stuff that nobody other than his family have seen.

I can well imagine that Paris is dissatisfied with something in the film, something that might have to do with Michael's death, that the film glosses over or obscures the truth about how Michael Jackson's death came about. That wouldn't surprise me. Even though we don't know anything about the film at this point.

@Hiker Thanks for reporting. I can cleanup the thread, but its too many pages, and offending posts mixed with proper posts. I have said this repeatedly, replying to such posts just creates even more mess that makes it even harder to cleanup.
If you report offending posts and ignore, instead of replying to the poster, it's much easier to cleanup.

in that case she would have explicitly called out the estate, or the producers of the movie, for glossing out such aspects. instead, she brought up MJ as a person, and how his fans perceive him.
 
yall need to ask yourselves why someone who would react so harshly to newspapers claiming she's grieving her father's death anniversary wouldn't be as much irritated to same newspapers claiming she's making insinuations on her father's innocence.

i thought this fandom was smarter than this.

I'm still patiently waiting for any kind of official announcement from Lionsgate about ... pretty much anything, really. Has anyone been cast to play Janet? Is it definitely going to be two films? Will there be a trailer before the end of 2025? Earth to Lionsgate - is anyone there?

No idea what the promotion campaign will be like. Obviously they'll do all the normal stuff but do they have any wild, creative ideas? The HIStory statues ... that was something really different. Will they do something as dramatic as that? :unsure:

Well, it is true that most of the fandom sees Michael as a perfect superhuman with no flaws ever, according to many fans he's never done anything wrong in his life and he's a literal angel. These are the same fans that claim she hates her father because she doesn't talk about him everyday on Instagram. I can understand why this would be tiring for her and why having a movie that paints him in the same light, that also portrays him as this perfect human without really challenging the perception people might have of him is of no interest to her.
 
anyways, people who are still excited for this movie baffles me. at worst, it will cement the idea of him as guilty/a monster in people's mind (after all, a trial follow it quickly) at best, it will be a completely mediocre piece where no one else but John Branca's pockets benefits from that.

i hope all of you enjoy the next couple of years.

I think it will probably be two films. The silence is certainly becoming quite boring.
 
I think a somewhat fluffier biopic is helpful to prepare people of the general public for whatever more difficult facts that it might hide. At least as I don't think the involved family members would accept gross misrepresentation of the allegations or his death.

I became a real fan not to long ago. And what caught my interest (beyond the music and show) was the multitude of facets to Michael's personality, talent, life experience, empathy, the abysses of society he was confronted with ... you name it. Much of this I have learned about in this forum 😄 ! I love dropping random facts in casual conversations and see how people are unaware and surprised just as I was, eg. His drawings, the burn, the opening of MTV for black artists, being vegetarian, the catalog purchase....
So, I hope the main message of the movie could be to make people aware of this vast complexity. Glossing over a bit would not harm that imo.
It might build the basic knowledge and a broader and empathetic perception of his personality that is needed to put things in perspective when whatever harder truths are told.
Maybe it's naive but at least I hope for that.

“I know absolutely nothing about the movie outside of vague statements from Paris, but I know it’s gonna be bad” is an interesting sentiment.
 
If the biopic is successful, we fans will also benefit from new releases in the coming years, as it will generate hype and renewed interest. The biopic will be successful thanks to Michael Jackson, regardless of whether it's close to reality or not, regardless of whether the critics like it or not. Let's look forward to 2026 and the years beyond. I remain optimistic.

so the biopic may as well be successful, i have no doubts about that, as anything pertaining MJ is always majorly successful. but that sounds like an empty prize. there's rumor of an upcoming hitpiece by Dan Reed to come out in 2026 as well.

sadly i think the bad aspects will outweight the good. but most fans don't care because they think like the estate does: as long as the MJ project makes money, as long as MJ "charts" then all it's good. It doesn't matter if it's not authentic, respectful, or offer no meaningful insight on MJ and his life at all.

the fact that someone as close to him as his own daughter is slamming this project should blast a loud alarm in some of you. but hey, what matters are the box office results, the Thriller songs trending and him doing Spotify numbers.

While the decision of not addressing the allegations have a high likelihood (though the scenes have already been filmed), they do a good job at showing MJs heart. This will have impact public perceptio in a positive way.

Its a shame (personal opinion) the allegations being taken out, but its not the only thing in the movie that shows who Michael was as a person. They got creative on ways to show his heart.

it's been repeated at nauseam, ever since the news about issues with the settlement came out, but a Michael Jackson biopic that omits the allegations is a defeat. all the gpa has talked in regards of this movie is how they will handle the allegations, you can stay safe that such an omission will be the loudest thing about it once it comes, no matter how impressive Jaafar Jackson is or how objectively good the movie and the music are as a whole.

It’s 100% not beyond the realms of possibility we need to be honest. She strikes me as the type to suddenly come out with he’s not my father blah blah and he was this and that.

Prince on the other hand adores MJ.

For the fans who don't read much on social media, they really don't know how cryptic and strange Omer and Paris are behaving. They were together last year in a rehab for mentally ill people and trauma recovery.
some of his tweets really are weirdly worded as if he's sending cryptic messages or something. It's natural for people to wonder, especially when he mostly tweets in this manner after something related to Michael goes viral. And please dont be rude to me ITS ALL BEGAN WITH LEAVING NEVERLAND!!! Im thinking that the Estate made a NDA with omer, It also explains why he has such wealth without success and everything

It hurts to see these pictures, but still no proof that she has turned on him. There can be a thousand reasons why. I just hope she will find her way in life and doesn't keep on harming herself... people here need to understand that you can't just assume things. You are not walking in her shoes.

See, when I was younger (I am not so old, but...well :sneaky:) I often jumped to conclusions. Then I discovered background information and suddenly everything appeared in a totally different light. I guess, everyone here made similar experiences, so keep that in mind.

I think she's a very complex, empathic person who had to deal with a lot in her past and carries that weight with her...so please...we do not have to have the same opinions, but I wish for some more empathy and respect.

And yes, still off topic, but this really bothers me.
