"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

my personal critiques:

I don't like the overly crispy/deep fake vibe to settings and characters. but i guess that's a problem for most films being made in 2020s and not just Michael. but when looking at that Beat It still, Jaafar doesn't even look human to me. he looks AI. a hard no.

While I appreciate that this first look on the movie had a funky and carefree feel to it, I am actually expecting a more dramatic narrative and a change in tone for a second trailer.

i think they didn't know what to do with jaafar's appearance at some points. the prosthetics 70s nose was unnecessary and his own nose could do just fine. he also looks like Jermaine a LOT in some scenes only to be forced back into Michael's features at other points

good points:

I like what they did with the mixing of tracks and how WBSS slows down towards the end, that was cool

that close up of his eyes as he looks at himself in the mirror is so beautiful and adds another depth to the trailer

Bad era Michael clearly looks GREAT

Michael Jackson’s story is vast and should be told in three parts, focusing on the behind-the-scenes dynamics of each artistic and personal phase.

Part 1: Would explore the strict family environment under his father’s control, the backstage of the Jackson 5 tours, creative tensions within The Jacksons, and his journey toward artistic independence during Off the Wall and Thriller, highlighting studio sessions and the making of his iconic music videos.

Part 2: Would dive into the pressures and internal conflicts of the Bad era, the media tension, and the physical demands of the Dangerous and HIStory tours, revealing the behind-the-scenes of recordings, choreography, and creative decisions made under heavy isolation.

Part 3: Would portray the turbulent atmosphere surrounding the Invincible sessions, the emotional and logistical impact of the 2005 trial, and the exhausting preparation for This Is It, exposing the human side behind his perfectionism and the wear of his final years.

Although the teaser looks nice (except for that gratuitous Branca shot wtf), it only makes me miss Michael so bloody much and how superior he is to everything. I'd rather just watch a concert of his in theatres.
With a biopic's huge success Michael's concerts will come to cinemas. As it happened to Queen.

So many people have been saying that Michael was "aura farming" like our man was into agriculture  Is this a new slang term? What exactly does it express and where does it come from? (non English native speaker asking 😅)

Bohemian Rhapsody Trailer 7yrs ago = 40mio plays

Michael Trailer now after 1 day at 2mio, let's go! :D
Bohemian Rhapsody made $910 million at the box office . Please keep that in mind.

A free teaser trailer that anyone can access does not compare to box office success. We shouldn’t be comparing especially since this film could flop.

Too lazy to tag actual source but this figure is wrong. Bohemian rhapsody made less than 300 Million Box office. Expectation for MJ's is at the Billion, but honnestly i wish people stop obsessing over these number and just enjoy. This moovie is meant to be for everyone and kind of an introduction to the legend, and so that many people that just he is a legend also know why. The Jackson an American dram mini series was great i loved it. But the budget was clearly limited. Jermaine was the executive producer, and while you could tell that MJ was kind of the main character (being the bigger star and the reason why many people would want to see the serie) he was not the focus. We only got lipsynching poorly to Humane Nature and the pepsi burn, not that many element of Michael's challenges. And you could tell the focus was to promote the family and try to give spotlight to all the brothers and their lovestories. Plus to watch it, you really need to search for it.
I am happy and excited with this teaser.
I think MJ spoiled his fandom too much and made us expect only the best so the longtime fan/connaisseurs are super super picky. But let's face it we can t have MJ creative direction managing stuff anymore we gotta do with.
I am personly surprised how this trailer took over the internet, the view are exploding. The name Michael Jackson is really THAT BRAND.

You’ve clearly been looking at the wrong source 👍

People

Ishowspeed, one of the biggest streamers in the world reacted to it. With a very positive view. The engagement is going to be huge.
Not a fan of him but I am very GLAD that a huge streamer like IShowSpeed his hyping up his community! Especially one with tons of young people. Michael deserves love from every generations but sadly young people don't know much about him. I truly wish this biopic is gonna make big numbers and that people are gonna put some respect on Michael's name and work. Hopefully, people will stop shaming others for liking him because of some false accusations and because he was ''weird''... I always fear talking about my love for his music and career because of that and that's really annoying... I hope this biopic will explain why he acted the way he did (with the heart of a child) and I hope other big streamers will show the trailer to their communities aswell!

Michael was extremely avant-garde in the messages he expressed through his songs (Earth Song, Heal the World, Man in the Mirror, to name a few). I hope people will understand that he was not at all the monster perceived by many today. I sincerely hope to hear about it from other people before I bring it up myself. I hope people will be open-minded enough to admit their prejudices against him and hear the truth. Fingers crossed! 🤞

Thank you for sharing this btw :)

For comparison, does anyone know how many streams the Bohemian Rhapsody or the Elvis youtube trailer got in the first 24 hours?

This movie will not flop. Even if the US doesn't go for it, the whole of the rest of the world will.

Very much doubt this film will flop, honestly.
I think this film will be extremely successful 🙌 but I don’t like some fans comparing it to Bohemian Rhapsody already at this early stage because of viewing figures on social media.

It was always gonna get comparisons with Graham King as producer I understand that

Lionsgate earnings call is all but confirming a second movie! Sorry for the bad English but someone who is following the Lionsgate earnings call is updating and typing live in a whatsapp group.

An update about second film:

‘We have now see Director’s cut, it’s exceptional, not ready to confirm a second film, the creative film is hard at work to deliver a SEXOND FILM’

“They said they the creative team are currently working on it”

Edit: here’s the audio!
This wording all but confirms it.

This is how to say there will be a second part, without explicitly saying there will be a second part.

Come on, why not just outright say it?

I think they enjoy the buzz that comes with the guessing game..

I‘d say, with that article it’s as clear as night and day that there will be a follow up!

No but it won't flop is all I said.

Comparing it to BH already puts enormous pressure on the film , in terms of biopics it will be difficult to achieve those box office numbers in my opinion.

If there was anyone to do it then of course it would be MJ but let’s wait until it actually comes out
