"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Again - it's just something the estate is saying to shut you up.

They're alluding to a sequel so they don't get criticism this year. Obviously they can then just wait and wait and wait until everybody forgets about it. And if challenged in 2030, it will be too late to matter. And they will already have their excuse ready about something something profits not being high enough.

The point is, I can only judge a movie now, based on what is put in front of me at the time if release. I can't judge a 2026 movie based on a vague promise of what might come out in 2030. Any MJ movie that omits the allegations will be incomplete and WILL be a poor movie. So I have no choice but to criticise it accordingly.

It's like a videogame that launches with bugs and features missing, and the developer says "don't worry about it crashing, we will release a patch that fixes that next year, please understand". It's just not good enough, and deserves a low score.
tbh it can go both ways.

i don't think we should 1000% rely on this splitting narrative but we can't even go around stating that it's never going to happen when it's just assumptions.

i think they would want to reuse all that additional photography and scenes from the 90s (and 2000s if they had any) just to recoup the money if anything. but anyways, if ever a second movie happens, it's going to be the Wicked 2 route and following the first movie without letting too much time pass. let's say that if Michael 1 is out in April, then Michael 2 could hit theaters for the end of the year, again if they have most of the material ready . but this is just my personal assumption based on the fact that i believe that story about the settlement was a red herring all along

The childlike innocence that Michael has retained can be shown in other ways, thereby indirectly refuting the accusations. For example, through songwriting, because in WATW Michael sings:
We are the world
We are the children
nobody believes that someone is innocent because they sing a song about creating a better world for children, please be serious.

they need to show at least the context on how the allegations came to happen and why that's not who Michael was. I hope they highlight how he was used to be around adults and share spaces with them since he was a child star, how growing apart from his exploitative family made him seek other surrogate families in desperation, how his personal spaces were open to all sorts of people and not just children, how lies and character assassination about him was already a profitable business even before allegations were a thing in the 90s.

or at least, an ideal movie about Michael Jackson would instill the fundamental reasons why certain things happened in his life and that would still work even without showing the allegations, because people would put 1+1 together

There is some misinformation in this post.
This is the context:

In 1994, at the age of 14, Jordan Chandler was legally emancipated from his parents
Today we have no evidence that Jordan was ever granted emancipation. We know he applied for it In 1995 not 1994. But there's never been evidence that he was actually granted it. A child doesn't just get emancipation cuz they asked for it. A judge has to make a decision on it and rule on it. And based on other evidence, it's possible that Jordans request was denied.

. While the initial 1993 sexual abuse allegations were settled in January 1994, subsequent legal complaints were filed against Michael Jackson in the late 1990s specifically regarding breaches of the settlement's confidentiality agreement.
  • 1994 Emancipation: Jordan sought and received legal emancipation following the $23 million settlement of the original civil case. This legal separation gave him independence from his father, Evan Chandler, who had initiated the initial allegations.
It was not 23 million. Jordan got 15 million. June and Evan both got 1.5 million. Please stop repeating on old myths.

  • 1996 Lawsuit: Evan Chandler filed a $60 million lawsuit against Jackson and his then-wife Lisa Marie Presley, alleging they breached the 1994 confidentiality agreement during a televised interview with Diane Sawyer and through lyrics on Jackson's HIStory album.
  • ‼️1998 Complaint: In 1998, upon reaching age 18, Jordan Chandler filed his own independent complaint against Jackson for the same breach of confidentiality.
  • Consolidation and Dismissal: The legal actions from both Jordan and Evan were consolidated into one arbitration process. In 1999, a court ruled in Jackson's favor and dismissed the lawsuits, concluding no breach had occurred.
‼️These 1998 actions were focused on contractual violations related to the settlement rather than new claims of sexual abuse.

Not to defend Jordan, but that 1998 lawsuit was clearly Evans doing if you look at the details. It's was basically a repeat filing of Evans and it's clear it was done on behalf of Evan.

Also if you look at the timeline leading up to the second lawsuit from Jordan it's basically a repeat of 1993.

-Jordan was living with his stepmother away from Evan from age 14 to 17. Just as he was living with his mother June.
- At age 17, Evan suddenly takes off with Jordan, nobody knows where they went. Jordan cut off all communication with his step mom and younger half siblings. Same thing happened in 1993. He stopped talking to June AND his 6 year old sister. Didn't speak to them for years.

-According to other evidence it appears during this time they were in New York with one of Evans brothers. Other members of Evans family ( like his mother Beatrice) also claimed during this time they had no idea where they were. So it seems it was just Jordan, Evan, Ray and possibly Evans other brother Larry. Hiding out for months. Then that second lawsuit was filed in Jordans name. It was filed when he was 18, but he and Evan ran off when he was 17.

So we have the same pattern of Evan taking him from his mother (figure), isolating him, Jordan cutting off contact with his mom, siblings and other family members and then a lawsuit/ claim is made against Michael for money.

Again I'm not defending Jordan, but 17/18 doesn't suddenly turn someone into fully mature adult just because the law says they are technically adults. The fact is when he filed that second lawsuit he had been with Evan, isolated from other family members for almost a year. Who knows what went on during that time.

I find the isolation and the cutting off contact even with his younger siblings to be a huge red flag.

Guilters will say he stopped talking to June because she let him be abused. But that doesn't explain why he would cut off contact with Lily, and his other 2 siblings who were all small children at the time. Or his step mom or his grandmother. None of them had anything to do with his supposed "abuse"

It leads me to believe that Evan had some kinda toxic hold on him. And this hold was strong enough to make him cut off contact with his other family members ( all of whom he eventually reconnected with once he got away from Evan)

Essentially Evan had Jordan accuse Michael of what he himself did. He's the one who isolated him and took him away from his family. He just projected that only to Michael. Evan is the real abuser here.

Again - Estate has nothing to do with the promo campaign. All these comments about a possible part 2 ("more Michael after the first movie") were from Lionsgate. Please, stop spreading misinformation.
The Promo is more then poor

Like clockwork Kelley 🤣 ⬆️

What's your favourite song of the new leaks, Kelley? Just trying to include you in one of the many positive conversations going on here the past week.

Fantastic!

I’ve noticed that , never a comment on something positive like new music - just full on obsession with guilters and Jordan Chandler .

Does anyone have the desire to own it? 🧐
Do we have to sign a petition for them to finally accept that it's bad and replace it with something decent before the general public realizes it's an official poster? I can't believe they STILL haven't replaced it after seeing the 99.9% negative reaction to it! If I were Lionsgate, that would have been an emergency meeting to fix things up before more people saw it!

Dumb take as always Richy!
If it’s a two parter, it’s a two parter!
If the first part ends before 1993, the allegations must not be included!

Also don’t forget to judge -Fellowship Of The Rings- accordingly.. 🤣😂🤣
