"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

Yeah I saw that but no tickets available…what is happening?! I feel like the UK isn’t getting the same as USA and Berlin have been getting hmmmm
No, I keep checking and there at no tickets on sale in Germany as well and no information on the site of the premiere location (uber music hall) or any of the announced fan events. Although you can win premiere tickets in Austria and France.
So no place is getting anything so far 😕
I wonder if there is any significant date coming up, which they wait for before starting sales and all?

Kind of a shame that the biopic didn't include the 1993 and 2003 allegations(I heard somewhere that they had filmed that section), might have made the biopic a bit more interesting, still excited to see Jaafar being a dancing machine though!

However, it's already clear that the biopic offers explanations for Michael's behavior, which the media portrays as bizarre and which led to the accusations. This is particularly evident in the role of Joseph, who is depicted as an advocate of iron discipline that robbed Michael of his childhood, and in Michael himself, who tries to preserve this childlike quality, as seen in his reading of a Peter Pan book during the Off the Wall era.

The only thing is the general public has heard the "Peter Pan" thing and the "reclaiming his childhood" thing for decades now, and it's lost it's weight especially after 2005 and 2019. Being cleared of the charges in 2005 didn't really do much for anyone who was repulsed by the idea of sleepovers with children unrelated to him. For many people, that was all they needed to hear with regards to any "evidence" about abuse.

It's only a rumor about 1993. And no one said anything about 2003 allegations.
The latest scene in any trailer is 1988 (although this could actually be passed off as 1987 even though it's the '88 tour outfit).

I just noticed the spoilers thread was un-stickied -

Please don't be a dickhead and spoil anything from the film.

The scene where Billy Bray tells Michael he's not a little boy anymore is very significant. Michael doesn't agree; he just looks at Bill. Only Michael knows what's going on in his head. Because in reality, he'll always remain that little boy. The biopic makes it clear at many points what Michael was really like. Even a prejudiced audience should be able to understand the sleepovers for what they were.

It definitely looks like a plan, but I think splitting it at the point it appears to split at could be detrimental. There is a genuine belief out there among the more ignorant and snobbish music fan that everything post Thriller was downhill. There is also the more unpleasant mindset out there that MJ was white" from Bad onwards due to his complexion. Thriller is obviously the album that carries the most weight, so for to not to be an anchor for a larger section of his career could be dangerous when looking towards a potential sequel.

Purely just me thinking out loud, we have to get through this film for starters - but like everything else I question the thought process behind everything the Estate greenlights. The latest stories about Paris backs this up too.

I think it's very apparent from all the noise and smoke that this film was severely artistically compromised by whatever happened due to the rumours of the Chandler agreement. Whether it is for better or worse will be revealed when an original screenplay is leaked or (hopefully not) a disgruntled member of the team speaks about it.

I'm starting to wonder if the rumours regarding reshoots might have an element of truth (initially I put it down to media BS). Paris' recent court documents hint that the 1993 settlement has a big part to play in the reshoots...

"may be the root of reports that the estate has had to fund tens of millions of dollars in reshoots after the terms of a well-known settlement agreement prevented the production from using substantial amounts of footage already shot."

However, Paris does imply that her opinion is based on media reports. You'd think she should be more aware of exactly what is happening with the estate.

I guess we'll have to wait and see ultimately.

Don't forget, Marlon also said it. At this point, I believe this is the case.

@KOPV Or might the issues you mentioned also impair the marketing campaign?
I mean I'm getting suspicious if less than 3 weeks before the premiere there is no news. If they want a global fan celebration that needs fans to prepare more than two weeks. And I expect professional marketing from universal

good promotion !!,the last shot not before april

So far, I have no complaints about the biopic; the clips are very well done. I hope it stays that way.

To musically illustrate Michael's pursuit of love and peace in the biopic, these lines from Bad should be included in a trailer:

we can change the world tomorrow
this could be a better place
if you don't like what I'm sayin'
then won't you slap my face

Anyone think they will release the victory tour after this movie? We know they have the footage because we have seen the HD clips around the 40th anniversary of Thriller.
Oh please please please Estate be good to us lol
That's a hell of a dream but we know better than that🫩🫩

It’s pretty obvious that there was reshoots due to the third act. What we’re getting is something different to the original vision of the movie.

it’s a shame we probably won’t get to see any of the Neverland footage they shot until the second film.

The whole MJ being this Peter Pan image I have to agree is wearing thin. I’ve never agreed with the whole sleepover situations or the quite clearly unhealthy obsession with childhood and children in general. Michael was mentally ill in his later life.

Hopefully this film will at least give the audience a better understanding of who he was and why he sought comfort in children.
