Michael is caught in between the biggest rap feud of this generation...

I don’t know if you pay attention to rap music but there’s a rap battle going on between two of the most famous rappers of this generation, Kendrick Lamar and Drake and somehow Michael has gotten caught in between this, and even Prince. I wanted to break this down for the people that may not be aware of this, so here we go..

So Drake has for a long time made the comparison between him and Michael because of himself breaking streaming records and all that. He’s also been paying homage to Mike a lot with his music videos, dances etc. In march the artist called Future released a song called ‘Like That’ featuring Kendrick Lamar, and in that song Kendrick said:

“Your best work is a light pack, N**** Prince outlived Mike Jack” - Kendrick Lamar

This immediately started internet discussions about the old never ending argument about who was the better artist: Prince or MJ? Drake then, a couple of weeks later, responded with his own diss song called push ups where he said:

”What's a prince to a king? He a son, n****” - Drake

Disses aside, the MJ aspect seemed to be tongue in cheek and not something serious, but it took a darker turn on their last diss records. Kendrick responded with a 6 minute diss track called euphoria in which he name dropped Michael and Joe which seemed to just be apart of a witty entendre and nothing deeper, but then, back to back, Kendrick released another diss song called 6:16 where he spoke about Drakes camp being infiltrated by double agents. In this song Kendrick ended the song by saying:

”It's time you look around on who's around you, before you figure that you're not alone
Ask what Mike would do.”
Kendrick

Now, what happened next is in my opinion absolutely disgusting and just reinforces the opinion that I’ve had of drake for a long time, that he’s an opportunist that will attach himself to anything that will boost his image. Drake then released another diss called ”Family Matters” where he said

”It’s all on your face like what happen to Mike
Oh s**t, it’s all making sense, maybe I’m Prince and you actually Mike
Michael was praying his features would change so people believe that he’s actually White
Top would make you do a features for change, get on pop records and rap for the Whites” - Drake

They’re going back and forth and unfortunately Mike seems to be caught up in this. They’re never going to let Michael’s name rest and I’m sure were going to be hearing more of this. I’m not sure how far they will take it but considering Kendrick is claiming that drake is a p**phile, I’m just waiting for the inevitable. Just wanted to share this with y’all.
why is any of this any kind of important to anyone, really?
(as insensitive as this may sound,i'm aware..)
they're iust two grown up (as a paradox,I suppose) men who possess the mental age of a middle school aged boy at best, therefore such results are to be expected,in my opinion at least..
nonetheless, just watch it as both of these so called "artists" will fade into oblivion in no time actually,in contrast to the two important musical names that they have been using for their rather little, pathetic fights recently, all things considered..

Didnt realise people were so sensitive about it. Christ.

I'll bow out. Mods, you can delete my posts.
seems like my comment about having a middle school-ish mentality doesn't apply just to Drake,at the end of the day..
ironic all in all tho, wouldn't you say so?..

If I'm not interested in a subject I usually just don't comment on it but it feels nicer to post condescending comments than to just do that I guess.

Imagine the music Michael could've made if he got into a rap beef lol
Well, some folks think that Tony M's part in My Name Is Prince is directed towards Mike "You must become a 'prince' before you're 'king' anyway." Prince himself says "My name is Prince. I don't wanna be king, cause I've seen the top and it's just a dream." The album version is longer than the music video. There's also that "Prince t-shirt?" joke in the Badder video.

Because it's our right to treat it as such, now be quiet please.
Huh,excuse me?
On a more serious note,it's up to everyone to treat things like they will, obviously, but I must say that I didn't quite expect that latter half of your response, tbh. Not that it is much of anything (yet relevant enough to make me reply with this at least,ig),but still..

Some people see the "diamonds and pearls" lyric in Invincible as a Prince dig

Well I don't mean it so harshly. I just personally was irked by how you diminished it.

There's so many random "disses" towards artists today, some of it is unwarranted even if they're not my favorite artists. Calling out Drake, who's been given more respect than he deserves and has really offended everyone he's come across, is valid to me. I just don't understand why people wouldn't see that.

Family related songs:

Janet Jackson ~ You Need Me (1989)- This is a Janet B-side. Some people think this is about Papa Joe, but Janet denied it. The official story when it originally came out is that this track was written for a movie (that wound up not getting made). This movie was supposed to star Janet and all of the original members of The Time. Janet has worked with all of them except Morris Day. A few years ago Jimmy Jam talked about a Time movie that was going to happen in the late 1980s, but didn't mention Janet being in it. Jimmy said a first draft script had been written. But later Warner Brothers thought The Time was not well known enough for it be a box office hit and got Prince involved and it wound up being Graffiti Bridge, sort of a Purple Rain sequel. Which The Time members were not really into or understood what it was about, mainly the angel part. It had nothing to do with the original plot, which had no Prince or angel in it. Prince offered Madonna & Kim Basinger the lead female role in Graffiti Bridge but both turned it down. Speaking of the angel, she was played by poet & spoken word artist Ingrid Chavez, who sued Madonna & Lenny Kravitz for Justify My Love. A sort of Kevin Bacon style connection to Mike is that Al B. Sure! released an answer song to Justify My Love not long after Madonna's came out. Al also sings on The Secret Garden by Quincy Jones featuring Al, El DeBarge, Barry White, & James Ingram. Al said in an interview that his part was originally supposed to be sung by Michael Jackson, but there was a scheduling conflict, so he couldn't do it.

Jermaine Jackson ~ Word 2 The Badd (1991) - There's actually 2 versions of this. One about Mike and the other isn't. I've heard the non-Mike version on the radio a few times when it first came out, but never the other. 2 members of what later became TLC (T-Boz, Left Eye) are singing background on this track. TLC hadn't released a record yet. This was produced by Babyface & L.A. Reid and TLC were signed to their record label LaFace. Babyface & L.A. produced Jermaine's entire 1991 You Said album. They also produced the 1989 Jacksons song Nothin' which was a Top 10 hit on the R&B chart

Michael Jackson ~
Superfly Sister (1997) - Some think this is about LaToya.

On the more positive side:

Jermaine Jackson ~ I'm My Brother's Keeper (1981)

Jermaine Jackson ~ Oh Mother (1984)

The Jacksons ~ 2300 Jackson Street - All of the siblings, except LaToya, are on this song. But Marlon does not appear in the music video.

What I find really strange is people using phrases like "the biggest rap feud of this generation".

What does that even mean?! Who quantifies this stuff? Did somebody make a list where they calculated a ranking for them all?

As Michael said, the media makes up any old nonsense just to get a click. It's all meaningless.
