Michael Jackson Scream - The Album

But my point is this;

Once someone has decided a project holds no interest for them, is "silly", or others have said " just another compilation album", what more is to be added from those people?

You wouldn't hold a conversation or debate in real life like that. Once you told a group of people you had no interest in their conversation, they would expect you to leave the topic. Constantly going back into that conversation, uninvited, to repeat negativity would get you very short shrift.

Unfortunately, however, we are all extremely interested in this topic, and Michael's legacy is something many of us care about greatly. And I have to say, this analogy you keep using is lost on me. I respect and love my friends dearly, I'm interested in what they have to say for the good and for the bad. I want to hear what they have to say because it might challenge my own thoughts and opinions, or it might fortify what I already believe. I invite discussion like that. And if I was having a discussion in a pub and one person was lost on the conversation I think we'd move on to another so we could all join in. Nor do I go around joining random people's conversations and expressing forthright opinions.

A more appropriate analogy would be like joining the debate team, and you insisting on the team expressing the opposite opinion to you to be silent or leave.

There must be hundreds of topics on here that I have no interest in. 'The size of Michael's manhood', 'Did he find love in the dark?', etc. If I kept going on go those topics to tell people how silly I thought it was, or what a waste of evolutionary brain power it was, etc., I would imagine people would get very tired of it. And, in any case, I have no wish to spoil other people's enjoyment in life, however they get it. Why should I?

I agree, and if I was just showing up to every page stating the same thing over and over you'd have a good point. But I was replying directly to what AlwaysThere had posted re: Christmas albums. Also this is a hot, current topic. The album came out days ago. This isn't a 5 years later who all loved the Scream album thread.

It seems to me that some people hate other people being positive about something they've decided they don't like. I find that most odd. Perhaps Freud could tell us something about that?

It seems to me that some people hate other people not being positive about something they've decided they like. I don't find it odd, I realise where it comes from.

To clear up the analogy for you, imagine if you had a pub full of friends with various groups having varying conversations, which is what we have here, would you go back to the one you thought was "silly"? I wouldn't.

Also, I would rather be a person who enjoyed positivity, and others positivity towards things I like, than the opposite. I think it's much more normal.

Then internet discussion boards are not for you, my friend. Your positivity might be another person's negativity. We must always encourage respectful, informed discussion and debate.

I've come across people who get upset at other people's positivity. They're not for me.

They often try and disguise their negativity in the guise of "informed discussion and debate". It always amounts to the same thing though. They hate other people being happy.

I'm sure you're not one of those though.

Perhaps you could give me a list of post 2009 MJ projects you have really liked? That way we could find some common ground.

Actually don't worry.

I've just seen this from you;

Re: Keeping faith in the Estate for new releases.

"There isn't a single thing they've done since inception that didn't have a significant downside to it EXCEPT maybe Bad 25 (the only real downside being the poor quality of the concert)."

I've also had a look at your posts. I would say 95% of them are negative, on a multitude of subjects.

I think you just enjoy negativity and 'pissing on other people's chips'. It's not just me, looking at your post history, many others seem to have seen it. No. Its actually you.

You like to dress it all up as 'healthy debate' - telling yourself that, perhaps - but its no such thing. Someone who spends so much of their time being negative can not be healthy.

I'll be ignoring you from now on. As I'm told that's what negative people hate the most.

95% is it? That's some hefty number crunching. You must have a lot of patience.

Ignore me if you want, man. It's your loss.

Both of you go to neutral corners and take a breath!!!! Lol!

I think you both make valid points, and I commend you for keeping it "somewhat" civil, but how about just agreeing to disagree?

I think the overall feelings are that "Scream" definitely isn't for everyone, but that it could attract some newer fans or create new fans in general. Halloween is fun, and from what I understand, Michael really liked Halloween, so in that spirit, as part of the MJJC community, why don't we wish it well for Michael, for his legacy. It's here, it's out, the concept (Halloween), is kinda cool and different, so let's just roll with it and see what happens.

Peace out peeps!!!

People are allowed to say what they think. Negative and positive. Discussion boards are not for you if you don't want to hear opinions.

^ You are right, not saying in every regard but constant negativity does get overwhelmingly.. well NEGATIVE! Michael famously said he likes giving escapism.. When we go to a forum for escapism - and people read constant crapping on everything.. it gets old!

Yes opinions are free to share but negitivity does get overwhelming.. I think we could all understand that.. If you were at Disney World and you are trying to enjoy yourself and someone kept talking about how long the line is.. eventually you'd be like.. "I get it, yeah it sucks but it doesn't help hearing you repeat it all day"

But this isn't Disney World. Or Christmas Day. Or a wedding. Or a night down the pub. It's a discussion forum. We're here to discuss. This isn't the happy clappy show.

Perhaps the people who are sensitive to negative opinions could create a Scream album celebration thread where they just enjoy the album unchallenged? And this thread can remain for everyone else for general discussion?

Here is the upcoming chart week - an estimate. Good job boy-cotters lol. Now enjoy this!
P.S. Who is Tamar Braxton...? Even Toni Braxton's sister is able to move albums - I guess she doesn't have an army of boy cotters.

Shania Twain will take the #1 spot on both charts with her first album in 15 years. We’re currently projecting Demi Lovato to land at the #2 spot. However, we’re keeping an eye out on A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie which could provide a spoiler. Tom Petty’s Greatest Hits surges into the top 10 after his death on 10/2.

TOP 20 LIST-
*Shania Twain (Mercury Nashville) 129-134k SPS, 124-129k Sales
*Demi Lovato (Island/Safehouse/Hollywood) 68-73k, 45-50k
*A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie (Highbridge) 62-67k, 10-12k
*Miley Cyrus (RCA) 47-52k, 33-36k
Tom Petty – Greatest Hits (MCA) 42-46k, 31-34k
Lil Uzi Vert (Generation Now/Atlantic) 41-45k, <1k
Imagine Dragons (Kidinakorner/Interscope) 38-41k, 14-16k
Post Malone (Republic) 34-37k, 3-4k
Kendrick Lamar (TDE/Interscope) 30-33k, 6-7k
Khalid (Right Hand Music/RCA) 29-32k, 3-4k
Ed Sheeran (Atlantic) 27-30k, 7-8k
XXXtentacion (Bad Vibes Forever/Empire) 25-28k, <1k
SZA (TDE/RCA) 23-26k, 2-3k
Logic (Def Jam) 21-24k, 2-3k
Thomas Rhett (Valory/BMLG) 20-23k, 10-11k
Kodak Black (Atlantic) 20-23k, <1k
Jhene Aiko (Def Jam) 19-22k, 2-3k
Savage (Slaughter Gang/Epic) 19-22k, 2-3k
Macklemore (Macklemore/Warner Bros.) 18-21k, 7-8k
Tamar Braxton (TaMartianland) 18-21k, 17-19k

SCREAM should be top 10 on the sales based chart (the original chart before streaming).

Chris the point is it is that it is not general discussion anymore when it comes to a lot of things.. When someone posts something positive and someone has to negatively react to it constantly.. It takes away the comfortably to come and enjoy things.. It works both ways, those who speak positive about things want to feel free to do so.. Not just the negative people sh**ing on things. freedom of speech goes both ways..

Again it's the constant negativity, not a single response. We all have negative things to say here and there! but allowing people to enjoy things is only fair if someone else wants to share negativity.

At least positive posts are uplifting while negative is the opposite. positive should always outweigh negative otherwise it becomes an unhealthy environment..

And dude! this is coming from a guy (me) that does not plan to buy the album!

Your point is it's not general discussion anymore when the majority of the comments aren't positive? Eh? I'm having trouble understanding this. People need to feel like they are able to express their honest opinions so long as they're polite, respectful and don't have a hidden agenda ie. trolling. I've not tried to silence anyone, or tell anyone they've no right to express their opinion, because of something as thin as it upsets me to read it. I mean, to be honest, it's pretty pathetic if a person is that sensitive about a message forum. So frankly I've no idea why you're trying to tell me this works both ways. If there's opinions you can't handle then just ignore it. The other poster, SmoothMJ, already put me on hide or ignore, whatever it is. Feel free to do the same.

I'm not sure if you're accusing me of reacting negatively, constantly, to everything, so I won't respond to that until you do.

I'm not accusing you of anything buddy! there is really no reason to be defensive.. I don't get why you are acting like you are under attack by me when I am simply saying negativity gets old and brings people down. my point about "general discussion" is simply stating on the fact when people are trying to have discussion and people are poking negativity over, over, and over again it's not general convo anymore..

Look at this convo, we are not even talking about 'Scream' anymore.. I've said people have negative things to say time to time.. don't be bothered when you annoy people and they finally tell you to stop or in other words "shut up".. You are telling me to "ignore it" when you obviously can't ignore our opinions.. ease up, let it go and move on.. you've been put on ignore by a couple people so you obviously are being ignored by some.. do the same if it's what you're preaching..

I can state that negativity gets old if that is what it does.. Stating opinion and constantly being depressing are two different things. I personally have no beef with you, I simply made a "GENERAL" comment about going into threads and things always being crapped on..

Yes people can say what they want, but feel free to do that in the real world and see how people slowly walk away.. It's not enjoyable to be around.

reap what you sow!!

I merely stated it was unclear if you were, considering your paragraph began with my name.

my point about "general discussion" is simply stating on the fact when people are trying to have discussion and people are poking negativity over, over, and over again it's not general convo anymore..

But it works both ways. If people are insistent on only good thoughts and attempt to silence those who don't share that, then it's not general convo anymore.

Look at this convo, we are not even talking about 'Scream' anymore.. I've said people have negative things to say time to time.. don't be bothered when you annoy people and they finally tell you to stop or in other words "shut up".. Because you don't like "things always being crapped on". Wouldn't it be easier for you to put those people on hide? I don't have a problem with you guys so I've no reason to use the ignore button. If I did get so upset by differing opinions I wouldn't come here in the first place.

By the way who are the "some" that have put me on ignore? I'd love to know.

Yes people can say what they want, but feel free to do that in the real world and see how people slowly walk away.. It's not enjoyable to be around.

It's a discussion forum. For discussion. It's pretty simple. It's not Disney World.

^ IT would be easier to put people on hide if they did not steer the whole thread with back and forth bickering.. It becomes the convo of the thread, ie. not a general convo anymore about said topic.. If it were just a comment and it went on, it would be easier..

Disney or the real world, if you or anyone is going to say something negative they should be willing to hear that it's not wanted by those who are just simply done with it.

You go anywhere and do it, it's not attractive it will turn people off.. Doesn't have to be Disney! Nobody wants to be around a downer..

Good grief .. get over it. Some people don't want to waste money on a product that is literally just songs we've already purchased multiple times before with a new cover slapped over it. The argument from supporters of this project is that its not for the long term fans - it's for NEW fans. SO let them buy it! Oh, but new audiences don't care about repurposed songs either. Especially when you advertise it as a new album. The sales are exactly what I imagined they'd be.

Sad it will not enter top 20...

They need to really promote it in the coming weeks if they want it to be an annual Halloween album. - If it's not a succes this year - it will be long forgotten next year....

I agree with your comments but I'm done arguing. If people don't want to buy Scream, it's their decision. What I don't understand is why they keep coming back to this thread to complain how bad it is if they already said they wouldn't buy it, that's where their negativity gets tiring and upsetting.

I think your comments have been spot on, KOPV.

I've just decided to ignore those that thrive on negativity. That's the thing they hate that the most.

Someone once told me, when talking about people who are always looking to drag you down with their negativity;

"Don't wrestle with the pigs, trying to make them clean. You just end up getting dirty. What's more, the pigs don't want to be clean."

Let's use our energy for positive discussion. It's all to depressing otherwise, and a waste of time.
