Michael Jackson Scream - The Album

Wow it's not often you see a poster with a triple bump.
Hmmm i forgot about the vinyl release, so yes that could account for the jump but we'll have to wait to see how the sales break down. As i said, streaming is not contributing so it must be physical sales. It's all on this week.

I notice Michael bubles album "Christmas" is in the top 20. :)

Clever, by the Estate/Sony! The vinyl must be very popular, for it to jump that much.

Would be great if it could stay in the top 40 this week.

Or maybe the fact that it's Halloween this week.

***URGENT UPDATE***

UK TOP 100 ALBUMS (midweek update - sales Friday to Sunday inclusive)

#11 SCREAM (+88) !!!![[/url]

I think it`s the Vinyl-release and the pre-sales for it which makes it happen.

Also it's the Halloween week. If we see a rise in sales of Scream every year during Halloween week, then this project would be a highly successful one.

They said they intended for it to 'return' every Halloween, so they might do what Michael Bublé does with his Christmas albums and just advertise it heavily every Halloween.

I doubt it. The Bublé ads are very visible in the run up to Christmas but if the Estate can't even managed that the first year for Scream then it's not going to happen any other year IMO.

Yeah, they just need to copy Bublé's approach for the most part, excluding any live performances obviously.

Whoa there!

Halloween album sales will never be as big as Christmas! It's massively traditional, across the world, for people to buy (and rebuy) Christmas albums. I certainly don't think that is the case for Halloween.

This is another example of people not managing their expectations properly. Again - this album is one aspect of getting Michael more and more associated with Halloween. It's not the 'be all and end all' of the long term project.

Agreed. Many countries don't even have Halloween. - In Denmark it's coming slowly. but it's not a very big thing here - yet...

Great news. I think I will buy the vinyl too.

I think I have managed my expectations very well actually - based on the performance and promotion I have seen I said I expected low interest in the album during this season and in future seasons. Based on the midweek chart info you provided yesterday it looks as though Scream will perform much better this week, although sales are likely to drop sharply after today. It was #11 based on sales to yesterday, so I hope for a Top20 position once the whole week of sales are taken into account, but if it outperforms my expectations then I'll be very happy.

But what about The South Coast!!??

:devil::laughing:

(and For MJTruth) Yep, I can guarantee this issue of 'Metro' was given out at all stations to and from the English south coast, from London Victoria, Paddington and Waterloo stations..... and there were probably delays which would have allowed VERY extended perusal of the adverts....and even (just maybe) online linkage by phone to Amazon and other reputable music suppliers. (and maybe even to a few disreputable ones :) )!

:gross: :listeningtomusic: :listeningtomusic:

That is good news. :)

I had to chuckle earlier when i looked at Spotify uk viral 50 chart and i saw that Rockwell's somebody's watching me was in there. It was the version from Scream. But no mj tracks featured in the chart. The only track from Scream on that particular chart wasnt even an mj track.

The only reason that "Somebody's Watching Me" was popular is because of Michael's background vocals. At the time of its release, people only bought it because of Michael and radio only played it because of Michael's voice. People acted as if it was a new release from Michael.

Lol yep...the only reason why i like it & as a kid i thought Michael was sick while singing & added the chorus when he got better. Dont ask me why

I like Somebody's Watching me very much. - I didn't have that song in my iTunes library - so glad I have it now.

Also I like the song Torture more and more with each listen.

I think Scream has been a good release so far.

Maybe not written by MJ, but still MJ track.

Yesterday I received my Scream LP. It looks amazing! :)

'Somebody's watching me' always does well at Halloween, one of the most popular. Although it would be nowhere near as popular without the great MJ vocals.

'Thriller' always out performs it in the charts, all over the world, though. Smashes it, in fact.

It's #24 on the WW iTUNES chart. #6 in the USA (even though the peak has gone). Can't find Rockwell anywhere.

*'Thriller' is on SCREAM, by the way.

THRILLER smashing it on Spotify.

Way ahead of Rockwell on all charts I have looked at; WW, USA, UK, etc.

That should cheer you up, MJTruth?

Smooth, stop riding me, it's getting annoying now.
READ MY POST.

I spoke specifically about the Spotify UK Viral Chart and at a particular moment in time - the time I happened to check it.
AT THAT TIME there were only two halloween songs on that particular chart - Somebody's Watching Me and some halloween disney song. Thriller was not on it. In fact Thriller was not on any chart Spotify that I checked AT THAT TIME. not the UK Top50 chart, nor the UK viral chart, nor the Global Top50 chart, nor the global viral chart, nor the USA viral chart, nor the US Top 50 chart. IT wasn't anywhere. It's idiotic to quote from charts that were created AFTER my post and use that against me! Idiotic!

I knew perfectly well that thriller was performing on some of the country-specific itunes charts, and that it appeared on the global itunes chart. BUT that was not what I posted about! If you must get into the detail Monster Mash was performing better than Thriller AT THAT TIME! Scream didn't appear in the global or european itune album charts then and it still doesn't now.

I also knew that the Thriller single was at #38 on the official UK singles chart.

I happen to know that right now Scream has dropped to #14 on the official midweek update and that the Thriller single has moved up to #36. thriller will most likely drop out of the Top 40 by Friday, and (IMO) Scream will likely be top 30.

I have been frequenting online sales forums for well over 10 years, receiving midweek (formerly daily) chart updates, and have been active on MJ sites and forums since the days of Planet Jackson and MJNI - probably since around '96. none of this stuff is new to me so stop trying to be a smart arse.
