Number Ones (DVD) - ARIA Top 40 DVD Chart
Week #87: #25

Question - Would anyone know the latest chart trajectory for Live In Bucharest in the UK? I lost track of it's chart trajectory back in October.
According to the link below, it's at #25 this week? Or has the website just not been updated since my last update?
I think this web hasn't been updated since one month ago at least because this week Daniel O'Donnell is at #1, not Bob Dylan.

It would be great to know how much the Jackson 5 Christmas album sold this week. Every Christmas releases saw massive increases during Thanksgiving.

Plus, I recalled last year during te same period seeing this Jackson 5 title going Top 10 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Catalogue Chart, chart that tabulates sales on every core outlets specialized on black music. It must have sold in the thousands?

Updated list of UK's 100 most successful artists

The Book Of British Hit Singles & Albums has unveiled their annual list of the Top 100 Most Successful Acts Of All Time. No dodgy voting, no committee of ‘music industry experts, no dubious sudden last minute changes, this one is based on actually hits.

The annual Top 100 rates itself as “the most definitive and genuine list of its kind” as it’s based solely on the total number of weeks each contender has spent on the official UK Singles and Albums charts and not on arbitrary voting.

The artists are ordered according to who has spent the most weeks on the combined official UK singles and albums charts, and the list represents more than 50 years of chart music from 1952 to the present day.

Big news this year? Well, Oasis have finally overtaken Status Quo (at 25 and 26 respectively) and surprisingly Queen have moved ahead of The Beatles (with Madonna very close behind).

The biggest jumps are by Kylie who’s gone up 13 places to 42, and Stereophonics who are the highest rising group in the Top 100, up 13 places to 71. And as rumours of his retirement from music continued to circulate, Eminem has the honour of being the highest new act to enter the chart at 86.

The full list (with last year’s placings in brackets) is:

1 (1) Elvis Presley
2 (2) Cliff Richard

It is obvious that the only problem with The Essential's US success (or lack thereof) was promotion. How else can you describe #1s - with half as much material on it for basically the same price - outselling it two years after #1s' release?

Thanks for the news Yuichi. This brings MJ's RIAA total to what? 60.5 million?

I'm glad that Sony have finally recertified Number Ones. Greatest Hits - HIStory Volume I is also due for a platinum certification since it's scanned 850k and definitely shipped over 1 million when you take into account retail and record club shipments.

Re: Single sales certifications above

I believe the certifications above obviously refer to digital single sales. That's awesome! Each song above has sold over 100,000 legitimate downloads. "Thriller" is probably at 150k by now (last update we received was around Halloween) so it should easily crack 200k well into next year making it platinum.

could someone enlighten me why the RIAA doesn't count Michael's solo motown stuff? were motown and the RIAA at odds? is it too late for the RIAA to recognize Michael's solo motown stuff, because if they did mike would be in top 5

Hi CuzThisIsThriller :) Unfortunately this has nothing to do with RIAA and all to do with Motown. Berry Gordy when he ran Motown was so cheap and greedy that he would never allow RIAA to come in and do proper accounting on his artists so not only were the Jackson 5 and Michael cheated out of proper royalties but so were countless other great artists like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Supremes and Diana Ross, etc.... the point is RIAA can only certify what a record company submits and it's properly audited. Since Motown was sold to Universal some of the artists like the J-5 and Stevie have had maybe 1 or 2 titles certified but ultimately unless Universal does a full on audit, tragically most Motown artists will never have a proper accounting for their sales, hope my explanation explains things :flowers:

Speaking of Marvin, I found out the man sold more than 10 million albums in America between the What's Going On album and London Palladium concert album. I know he sold more singles during the '60s but he sold a lot of albums in the '70s. He could easily be in the RIAA list of best-selling artists of all time with like 20 million albums or something like that. Curse Berry Gordy for what he did.
