Notes: Well, it had to happen eventually.

The Immaculate Collections dips below the 2K mark for the first time in- well, possibly ever. It scanned 1,993 units last week. The title surely will see a boost in coming weeks (maybe more than usual, with the new material hitting).

Overall, the 16 albums scanned 4,239 units, a drop of 5.8% from the prior week. I also learned that through 10/2, GHV2's digital tally was around 640 units - so, as said, not much of an impact there (or to its weekly scores).

Some chain must have had some of the video titles on sale- look at the gain for Ciao Italia! And, Drowned World sees a second week of gains.

Something tells me that even though The Essential peaked much higher in the UK, it's US total will eventually surpass it when all is said and done. 100k by years end is a definite possibility especially since Halloween/holiday sales will be kicking in anytime now. Not to be forgetton, Number Ones is just weeks away from scanning 1 million units.

This means 152.300 copies sold, right?
 
No it means literally it has scanned 76,150 copies. The confusion comes when RIAA counts it double for certification, I hope that makes sense. For example: HIStory has scanned nearly 2.6 million copies. Sony shipped 3.5 million to retailers and online outlets etc. but RIAA counted those 3.5 million shipped as 7 million for certification.

Apple's Already Sold Over 1 Million Videos

Apple says the iTunes Music Store has sold more than 1 million videos since the company introduced its new video-capable iPod on October 12.

Apple Computer announced today that customers of its iTunes Music Store have purchased more than 1 million videos since the video-download service was introduced alongside new video-capable iPods on October 12.

"Selling one million videos in less than 20 days strongly suggests there is a market for legal video downloads," said Steve Jobs, Apple (and Pixar) CEO. "Our next challenge is to broaden our content offerings, so that customers can enjoy watching more videos on their computers and new iPods."

And the offerings could certainly be much broader: videos for sale on Apple's store cost $1.99 each, and are formatted at a low resolution for playback on Apple's video iPods. Selections include music videos from popular music artists, shorts films from Pixar, and (most notably) ad-free episodes from popular ABC television series such as Desperate Housewives and Lost available only one day after broadcast.

Apple says the top video downloads include music videos from Michael Jackson, Fatboy Slim and Kanye West, alongside Pixar’s For the Birds and Boundin', and, of course, episodes of Lost and Desperate Housewives.
