The King of Pop dominates the U.S. Nielsen SoundScan and Billboard charts

Michael Jackson is still the King of the Top Pop Catalog Albums chart. It tallies albums that are more than 18 months old, have fallen below No. 100 on the Billboard 200 and don't have a current radio single. Catalog albums are ineligible to appear on the Billboard 200 chart though they can chart on the Top Comprehensive Albums chart.

This week, the entire top 12 albums are all Jackson-related. The singer specifically has the titles at Nos. 1-6 and 9-12, while two Jackson 5 compilations hold down the fort at Nos. 7 and 8.

*If "Off The Wall" can outsell Maxwell's new album, then Jackson would hold 4/5 best selling albums in the US (a new record). He already looks like he will have 6/10 of the best selling albums identical to last week. So let's keep shifting those records!

Wow, had to double check those Canadian numbers but its true. Michael Jackson has 7/10 best selling albums in Canada as the most recent data was released today. Just phenomenal. I don't think nobody has obtained that many albums in the Canadian top 10 ever so I'm assuming this is another record Michael can take with him to the grave. His Number Ones album moved from 2 to the #1 spot. His Thriller 25 moved from 3-2. His Essential album moved up from 9 to 4. Other Jackson titles in the top 10 include Thriller at #6, Bad at #8, Greatest Hits Volume One at #9, and Off The Wall at #10. His Dangerous album surged up to #13 from its previous position at 31. Go Michael!

US Sales will begin to trickle in tomorrow. Although Jackson will lose the #1 position by a long shot, he will still retain 3/5 best selling albums in the country. Out of the top 10 albums in the country, 6 will be Jackson. I expect Number Ones to shift between 140,000-160,000 copies this week, enough to secure the #2 spot. Other albums to look for in the top 10...Essential and Thriller still look to sell near or over 100,000 copies. Bad and Dangerous will be in the top 10 along with Off The Wall.

Total album sales in the US this week will fall roughly 40-45% from 1.1 million to 650,000-700,000

Wow, had to double check those Canadian numbers but its true. Michael Jackson has 7/10 best selling albums in Canada as the most recent data was released today. Just phenomenal. I don't think nobody has obtained that many albums in the Canadian top 10 ever so I'm assuming this is another record Michael can take with him to the grave. His Number Ones album moved from 2 to the #1 spot. His Thriller 25 moved from 3-2. His Essential album moved up from 9 to 4. Other Jackson titles in the top 10 include Thriller at #6, Bad at #8, Greatest Hits Volume One at #9, and Off The Wall at #10. His Dangerous album surged up to #13 from its previous position at 31. Go Michael!

I notice this...not one media outlet has reported these figures which seems VERY odd. Michael has just made history here and not one story is available to read. I even tried to type it in on Google and nothing came up. How odd.
