As per Hanboo @ UKMix and hopespringseternal at the MJ Forum, Michael Jackson scanned 18,000 units in the USA for the week ending December 18th, 2005.

This figure does not include any DVD titles like Number Ones, HIStory On Film: Volume 2, Live In Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour, Greatest Hits: HIStory, etc.

If it did, Michael's weekly SoundScan total would probably be around 25,000 units or higher.

No Soundscan figures available at this time since it's the holidays.

Hi, Amit, do you know what albums are counted? Only the 4 Special Editions + Invincible + HIStory (2CDS) + GHV1 + Ones + Essential, or also the Motown albums, the "regular editions" before 2001 & The Ultimate Collection is counted?

And thanks for all the info & updates! :D
 
Hi Moon, although I am not Amit, all of Mike's albums are counted when I give Amit the information including Motown, UC, SE's etc... the only thing we guess on are the DVD sales which are right now selling very highly weekly like the albums. Hope that helps :flowers:

pierpinto, I'm evaorig at UMIX who asks Hanboo weekly about MJ's album sales and pass on the info to BB, I guestimate his DVD sales based on charting and album sales. Just wanted to let ya know.
 
I just realized that when you add up the sales from the past two weeks, you get a total of 60,000 units. Pretty good MJ!
 
Just to add: Best Buy in the USA has been selling 'Thriller' SE for 9.99 for a couple of weeks and I've seen people buying it.

rikta, you do know that Hanboo used Soundscan information to compile his list. The reason that Hanboo states it like is because Soundscan doesn't publicly list best selling charts like this one and so Hanboo has to do it in a discreet way as to not get in trouble.
 
Hi rikta, I wanted to give a more detailed explanation so that others too can understand what I meant. Here's the thing: Soundscan is extremely expensive and if you read say for example, Billboard's articles each week when they are listing the top selling albums they have to round up the sales.

People like Hanboo, J.R.King, get their information I'm guessing from people who subscribe to Soundscan and they provide raw information or numbers more accurate to the artist sales. Anyway Soundscan has this strong policy about only certain sales can be published which is more to do with wanting people to directly subscribe to their service. A few months ago, Hanboo explained that he could publish information that was already out there but charts that Soundscan didn't publish, he'd have to compile the information he'd gotten from Soundscan and be discreet in how he publishes certain sales not in the public domain. So we can expect among 1 million sales if we count CDs + DVDs. Last year Michael sold in USA more or less 300,000 DVDs and in this year it has been released Live In Bucharest DVD, so the figures could be higher also.

2004

On the 2004 UK Album Year End Chart, Michael Jackson placed three albums (more than any artist) with: Number Ones at #57, Thriller at #135 (134,729), and The Very Best Of The Jacksons at #155 (116,000).

According to Musicweek, for the second year in a row, Michael Jackson had the most titles on the UK End Of Year 2004 Catalog Chart with the same three albums in the same order - Thriller improved 9-6, Off The Wall slipped 16-17 and Bad stumbled 22-47, with sales of 134,729, 91,675 and 56,209, respectively. 1979's Off The Wall was one of the oldest titles on the list.
