HISTORY VOL 1 - MICHAEL JACKSON - UP 15 SPOTS #23

*My tip was correct, alot of people would've seen Video Hits Top 100 videos of all time with MJ scoring 4 in the Top 10. Clearly they are buying with interest. Also hearing so much MJ on so many different radio stations around Melbourne - it's great!

06/25/2006: Good news from the land down under where MJ's 2003 DVD release Number Ones gets recertified to 7X platinum. This means that the #1's DVD has now shipped 105,000 copies in the Australian territory, a true success.

The DVD moves up #26 to #18 in it's 91st week on the chart.

06/25/2006: Good news from the land down under where MJ's 2003 DVD release Number Ones gets recertified to 7X platinum. Such a certification is equivalent to 490,000 units sold in the Australian territory, a true success.[/b]

Hello Amit,

It's great news that #1's has been re-certified at 7x PLATINUM! As you have pointed out in the past, the certification was long overdue.

In Australia, certification levels for Music DVD's are different to CD Albums and Singles.

GOLD represents 7,500 copies shipped and PLATINUM represents 15,000 copies shipped.

This means that the #1's DVD has shipped 105,000 copies, not 490,000.

Elsewhere on the album chart, the Number Ones CD comes in at #91. [/b]

This is not correct. The 91 is referring to the number of weeks the #1's DVD has appeared in the Top 40 Music DVD chart.

Hi BB, I tried sending you a PM but for some reason it didn't work. I spot a couple of mistakes. First, last May 2005, J.R. said that original Off The Wall's pre ss total was 1.169 million not 1.166 and there aren't 3 HIStory videos, there are only 2 so one of these have to be the Dangerous short films. Other than that, I think the totals are accurate.

EDIT: J.R. confirmed there are 3 HIStory videos so that part is answered. Still waiting to hear back about OTW pre-SS numbers.

From Musicweek:

The 20th and last single in Michael Jackson’s dualdisc reissue series, Blood On The Dance Floor debuts at number 19, on sales of 5,421. First released in 1997, when it became Jackson’s last number one, it brings overall sales in the series to 199,130. Aside from Thriller, ineligible to chart because it was housed in a box to accommodate the other releases, the dualdiscs have had chart peaks ranging from 11 for Billie Jean to 34 for Earth Song. Billie Jean is also the biggest seller, with 19,472 sales to date.
