Michael - The Great Album Debate

If there's a fake song on the next record, at least have it be Take Me Away. j/k :ninja:

It's interesting how, since Burn 2Nite leaked, quite a few believers have disappeared, or simply changed their outlook. So I guess it was a good thing in that respect. The fans need to be on the same page and to understand that the songs are indeed sung by Jason, as opposed to arguing.

You know, I feel that this is the best strategy on our part for making people aware....The comparisons PLUS the leaking of these fake-ass songs...I know a lot of people think the doubters are shoving the comparisons down their throats, so the leaking of these songs are done a little more non-chalantly, so to speak....The vocals deviate so far from Mike's genuine vocals that people will bound to take notice eventually on their own :fear:

^^ Totally agree, Jesta....But, damn I wanna hear some real tracks!!
!

Me too! The excitement when Blue Gangsta or DYKWYCA was crazy! it made the board alive. It gives us some happiness. When some fake Cascio crap is leaked no one cares!

Edit:Aniram's post is basically the same as this! Stupid me

That's how it was for me... Too many nights listening to my playlists full of Michael and when the Cascio songs came on I just couldn't hear the Michael from all the others.

hahaha..no, it's not stupid...we just all feel the same :p

I was just in heaven when those songs were leaked...Oh, the good 'ol days...Hopefully, something will come along soon again

I know you hated how we shoved the comparisons in your face all the time, dude :D

I know I tried and tried not to exclaim, 'HOW THE HELL CAN'T YOU HEAR IT'S THE SAME DAMN VOICE?!?!'....So frustrating!! LOOOOL...But I understand we all hear different things, yada yada yada :p

I think it was actually Keep Your Head Up that was most annoying.

Were you a fan when Xscape was leaked? THAT was MENTAL!!

Were you a fan when Xscape was leaked? THAT was MENTAL!!

I've been a fan since like, 1988, lol...But I wasn't following Mike that much during the 2000s and not on forums because I was too busy with nursing school and what not...So, no, I missed the hysteria :(

OMJ! Me too! For me it was the BAD video that made me absolutely love him and I'll never stop, what made you a fan?

Definitely the Thriller video...Been watching it since I could remember....In the late 80s, I just loved the Bad album...My mom had it on cassette and I used to stare at the cover all the time...I just adored the Smooth Criminal video and to this day it`s still my fave video ever, ever

But what turned me into a hardcore fan was the Oprah interview...I just adored him in that...Watched it over and over and over again....Then, he married LMP  LOOOOL and then HIStory came out...OMG, I was just so excited for that! That album was has a special place in my heart

sorry I'm late to the thread.

The significance of Paris's tweet is this. Many "doubters" believed the media stories or hoped that one day Michael's kids would come and say the Cascio songs are fake and that would be the end of the debate as they are his kids and were at the house when Michael allegedly recorded these songs. In a he said - she said format MJ kids saying it's not Michael would win over Eddie saying it is Michael.

Paris's tweet of saying HT is fake (note: she actually said the same thing months ago on her formspring as well) just shows us that she's a kid and she doesn't know which song is real or not for a fact. She's not a credible source to determine authenticity. and don't get me wrong there are a million legit reasons why this is the case, starting with she was a kid, probably wasn't in the studio, wasn't experienced in music , processing, mixing, editing etc and can base her opinions on a gut feeling. On the other hand she can also be convinced to believe "some" songs are fake without knowing which songs and later like some fans (including my brother) by listening she might have thought HT to be fake due to the auto-tune on it. (I'm not gonna go to details but her formspring answers sounded like she knew about the Cascio debate but didn't know which songs were Cascio songs)

Overall this shows that she doesn't have any real factual information and aren't in a position to determine any songs authenticity. and it's fine as she's a kid. As far as we are and this debate is concerned she wouldn't bring any evidence into the discussion (because even if tomorrow she says for example BN is fake, her saying HT is fake would make her not credible in this regard)

The things said about the Estate / Executors is correct. They will name their successors and if no individual remains Bank of America will take over.

Actually, the children are the beneficiaries of the Michael Jackson Estate. They may not be the one who are going to "manage" the Estate when they come of age. (Ivy can definitely help here.) There is a huge difference between being a beneficiary and being an administrator. As a matter of fact, the children will not have any control of the Estate until the age of 30.

We tend to think the Estate is going to be in the hands of the children in the future. But, that's not exactly right. I mean the children can choose to keep appointing John Branca and John McClain or other people to manage the Estate. The children may not have all the skillsets to handle all the business aspects. Let's say Prince wants to follow his dream and become a director. He's not going to sit in the corner office and review all the deals entered by the Estate.

Lisa Marie Presley didn't manage the Elvis Presley Estate. Actually, I believe she sold her shares to a private equity firm a couple years ago. So, she does not have any voting power over the Estate affair.

Michael's children can choose to be heavily involved in managing their father's legacy. They can also choose to follow their own paths and have their own careers. It's up to them. I guess fans should not have any expectations that the children will be the successors of Messers Branca and McClain. It's too soon to tell.

All true. Honestly I wouldn't expect them to run their father's Estate. They will have their own life, their own families etc by that time. In most examples such Estates are always run by professionals, regardless -even if they run with by hiring other people- they would have the power of selecting who and making decisions.

Quick Q: How come fake songs get leaked but no real ones do?

I personally think it's a strategy done by someone on the inside. If fake songs get leaked, they have a lesser chance of appearing on a new album.

and I believe that's what Sony is also thinking.

It's strange really because I felt I could connect with MJ after Oprah. HIStory was the first album I could buy on release day with my own money so obviously I was outside the shops waiting for them to open :D I ended up buying 7 CD's in the end because of different stickers and so on :) And oh yeah, Smooth Criminal  so cool! I also remember the LMP thing with all the female fans angry and I was happy for him :D

Yeah, that's exactly how I felt too after the Oprah interview....I was able to connect with him on a level that I hadn't been able to before; that a lot of people hadn't been able to before...Prior to that interview, I had never really heard Michael talk or be interviewed....Even when I was little, I knew how shy he was, and the fact that he didn't really do any interviews...But at the same time, I felt his mysterious side and connected to that...I felt he was so magical and mysterious and I loved that! In fact, at that time, as a kid, that's how I preferred him....He was like Santa Claus..:D Sometimes, I think back to that time when I only knew him as a singer, a dancer, a great performer, and ultimately, to me as a kid, completely magical  Thinking back to how I felt back then about him, I can connect to my childhood whenever I want to :)

Yeah, I saved all my babysitting money for the HIStory album when it came out ...I was 13 then, and when I saw he had cut his hair I was in shock! But I loved it  Stayed up late to watch the premiere of the Scream video, was completely shocked when I heard him say '****' hahaha...I remember watching the MTV performance in '95 as well...I waited so, so long to watch that, and that night, I had my VHS tape all ready to record it, and somehow I got sidetracked and completely forgot it was coming on! I screamed, ran downstairs, and just, just got it recorded in time...So I didn't miss any of it, thank God... I still have the VHS tape of that ....

Don't get me wrong, I was happy for him when he married LMP, he really seemed happy :D

Yeah, she's a beauty for sure :D :heat:

Oh... we are talking how we became fan. I love sharing my story too.

For me, it's the Black or White video that introduced me to Michael. Back then, I didn't even understand what he sang, but based on the video, I could tell it's about racial harmony. The morphing at the end of the video (the pather dance sequence was cut in the version they broadcasted in Hong Kong) was magical. It really was. It took my breath away. I was like "wow... how could people change color like that?" :lmao:

Then, the local channel that got the right to the Bucharest concert ran the commerical non-stop on TV. Whenver I turned on the TV, I saw glimpse of Michael. When I finally saw the Bucharest concert, that's it. I was hooked. He was just magical. I don't know what other word I could use. Michael was just amazing. I vaguely remember the Pepsi commercial too. It was a golden era. I miss that. I miss seeing Michael on TV. My first Michael Jackson album was a duped cassette tape of Dangerous. :fear: I begged my friend to make a copy for me.

I was old enough to buy the HIStory album when it was released. The HIStory campaign was EPIC!!! When I went to HMV, I saw gigantic posters everywhere. They blasted Scream loud in store. And, the videos premiered one after one. Oh... good time... The gold album is so beautiful.. I mean when you open the case, my jaw dropped. The booklet, the design, everything. HIStory was a great listening experience.

I even have the HIStory magazines that I subscribed too on the back of the HIStory booklet...I was SOOO excited to get my first issue in the mail...It was $10 an issue! That's nuts! :bugeyed

You guys all have great stories.

Really wish mine was like that... I saw Free Willy when I was about three years old and I would watch Michael in the beginning and get chills listening to his voice, Will You Be There had a gigantic influence on me.

But it took me a while to really get "into" Michael. I always loved Michael Jackson(you know.. Thriller, BJ, TWYMMF, etc.), I think I have always been led back to him and my taste in music has always been very similar to Michael's style.

I was one of those who thought Michael could have possibly molested kids when I was, you know, 11 years old. I regret cracking jokes about Michael when I was young, in middle school, and ignorant about such things. Everyone at school and on TV and stuff took a stab at Michael for a little while, it really hurts to think about. But it was really easy, I think, he's an easy target.

I remember seeing the Martin Bashir interview and thinking it was very strange. Then I remember seeing the alternative MJ version, too, and thought that was interesting.

It wasn't until June of 2008 that I really became a huge Michael Jackson fan. I decided I wanted to watch all of his 2005 child molestation coverage to judge for myself if he did it or not. I'm someone who likes to do research on things like that and come to my own conclusions.

So I started watching his interviews, I recall the Geraldo interview really blowing me away. I gained so much respect for Michael while I watched him in interviews, I knew that I had to study him. He seemed so strong, intelligent, spiritually wise, just an incredible person all around.

So my love has grown and grown with every Michael Jackson experience I've had. I decided I'd start with Off The Wall and work my way to the next stuff. Off The Wall changed my life and so has every album I've heard after that. Of course I already knew his hits but it's just been an incredible time for me. I feel so lucky and blessed to have Michael Jackson to listen to and be inspired by, to look up to.

I think about it a lot about how I started becoming interested in Michael literally one year before he died...

I was riding home from work, listening to I Can't Help It, I believe. Got home and my mom instantly told me the news, I was in shock. :(

Awww, this is the best! I wanna tell my story too

like most other human beings, michael has been a part of my life for as long as i can remember. the very earliest memory i have of him was when Jam premiered on mtv. my brothers were BIG fans back then, and i was so little, almost 5. I was trying to get them to pay attention to me and they were all like "shhh, shh, michael jackson! this is important!" Unfortunately, now, one of my brothers is kind of an mj hater. not sure how that happened--*sigh*

My mom was a big fan too. She always used to tell me she could watch michael forever. And i remember when he came on tv for his statement after the first allegations, we all watched it together. she never believed it, So i guess it was natural that i would fall for him, since my family was so into him too

My dad had the original Thriller CD and i stole it from his collection (i'm bad. . . really really bad). I still remember the first time i listened to that cd. i was so so into it. When PYT came on i was like "what? what is this golden glorious song?" haha, i couldn't get over it, i would leave that on repeat ALL day. And "the girl is mine" was the ONLY thing that got me through my most boring reading assignments for school.

All this was as a kid though. i watched the videos, concerts, listened to his music . . . but what really got me hooked was in college, when youtube was getting popular. I would just watch him literally ALL the time. Between classes, DURING classes, in my dorm room. One night when a bunch of friends were in my room i played don't stop so loud and we were all singing with the windows open. so great. one of my favorite college memories.

I feel really lucky that i had the time to love and appreciate michael before he was taken away. I got to live at least some of my life with the excitement of reading about him, wondering what he was going to do next, crossing my fingers that he would make a surprise appearance on an awards show. But the magic lives forever.

night!

That's crazy! I was exactly the same!! When the HBO special was going to be on I bought the most expensive VHS tapes anyone will ever buy and then when Michael collapsed I was devastated. I then got all the news reports around the time on the VHS but I would have prefered to get Michael in concert on there instead :D (who wouldnt?)

I am totally with your opinion. Some of the believers have disappeared on many forums. That´s a good thing because maybe they realized it´s not MJ. But i really think it is like when comparisons surfaced and many disappeared, they later they came back.

^^ Hopefully, as more tracks get leaked maybe just maybe they will sound more and more fake and everyone is no longer a believer *prays*

This thread is so much better than the one at Maximum-Jackson, in my opinion, everyone is so much more friendly here.

Very true Aniram, i really see a friendly and more paceful thread right here. :)

That´s why we don´t need signatures to defend us from the attacks of others.

I much prefer this place, it seems less bitchy, its just a kinder and nicer place in my opinion

It's because it's less moderated and we offset some of the negativity with the off topic talks...I think it's one of the greatest threads in this forum, considering it's such a controversial one :D

Who'd think the best thread on the entire site would be one that's been tucked away into near non-existence from most others? Oh well, we have it all to ourselves! We've all been together for such a long time that we know how to treat each other.

Does anyone remember when we said the thread could possibly end at page 1000? that seems SO unlikely!!
