Michael - The Great Album Debate

I agree, I see no racism. I remember Ivy told me a long time ago that she thought it was but I disagree. She also asked me how I can hear the difference between a black man and a white man.

Sometimes the timbre is clearly different. But, do you also have impression to hear a black man in those two songs:

White older man.

How about this one, the same singer but when he was 59 years old. Note how his voice timbre hasn't changed despite his age, unlike what has been said for the Cascio tracks.

p.s. Disclaimer: this song does not contain any pornographic material nor anything related to violence despite its title:

I agree, Biggie sounds different to Eminem :)puke:) He has a more 'black' sound, however, I don't meant to be rascist about it.

Love this song :D

Still sounds like an older white man :)

Here is a good example of a white man sounding very much like a black man:

No, there is nothing racist. Nobody uses any superiority vs inferiority or vice versa argument.

Now, how about this, a black female vocalist that sounds like a black male vocalist:

James Porte

Who knows what Porte actually sounds like? Do you really hear 2 voices on e.g. Breaking News (apart from cut/paste) ?
Well, I can hear a woman's voice twice on the BN acapella very shortly ... and I think I hear a second vocal track singing without the vocal cords (= whispering), which seems to be the same person as the main vocalist though.

If you hear a second voice, a second layer so to say: can you give examples ?

You couldn't even correctly identify Michael's vocals in the track "Opis None" as you thought it would contain the vocals of an impostor.
You're openly admitting to not being able to recognize 2 singers in "Breaking News". So what's with your "musically trained ears" argument now?

And then: why would they do or need to do such a thing as melting down 2 lead vocals into one?

A strange thing to say for a musicologist who should know the answer when it comes to filling gaps and compensating fragmentariness.

have been an musician for over 20 years I kind of am an expert.

And when did you want to tell your fellow fans here that you started counting to refer to yourself as a "musician" with 7 years old - because you're only 27 years old.
"kind of an expert" / "expert" - where's the difference?
You clearly think you would be one. And to think this way of oneself is never wise.

Oh and btw everything I've just said is true - to quote Grent - "[w]hich I can pro[ve]. In court."

^^ Do you not have anything better to do than to pick apart others' posts?

I heard that one before. Still I have difficulties to identify him in the official BN acapella.
He's not in the adlibs, right? Do you hear him in the first verse ?

Don't think I can identify him in the a cappella. All I hear is Jason and something in the background (headphone bleed or whatever you call it) sometimes. The album verison however.

Ok, that clears things up. Thanks.
I actually doubt he's (more than a very few phrases to emphasize perhaps) on any Cascio lead vocal.
I'd love to be shown otherwise.

This Porte guy is one mysterious fellow. He reportedly co-wrote and recorded a bunch of songs for his own album, then he gave it all away to the great Michael Jackson, who kindly agreed to cover these tunes, ending up being a background singer on the mentioned songs. And up to this day he hasn't given a single interview about his involvement in one of the lasts Michael Jackson recording. No to mention declining an interview for Vogel's book. Hmm suspicious much?

Here's the method how the Cascio tracks were born (for English subtitles click on the bottom of the youtube window "CC" and the subtitles will appear):

the reason it comes as racist to me because the idea of a white man (malachi) cannot sound like a black man (michael). isn't that an argument of superiority / inferiority hence racists?

I'm okay with the notion that Malachi doesn't sound like Michael because he doesn't have the capability or ability, the minute you add "white" into it, it becomes racist IMO.
