Michael - The Great Album Debate

Look how young he was there and on camera
Age does not take away his singing skill. His vocal technique can only improve with age. Bumper dud a comparison of Another Day and Behind the Mask. The husk in the voice is the same; despite the fact that Michael recorded BTM in his 20's and Another Day in his 40's. Even without the comparison, you can listen the songs on the album, don't you think the difference is his voice is close to minimal?

I'm trying to say "Michael" could have sold anywhere from 2 - 5 million units in 1 year on year 10 what do you think the sales will be ?
Please don't say 5.1 million

Invincible sold at least 7 million in its first year and nearly doubled that by this time. With that logic, MICHAEL is lucky to sell 6 million in 9 years. Face it, the album bombed, it BARELY made an impact. Even with the unfortunate dead celebrity promotion that normally causes a buying frenzy.

Michael has sold 2.3 million units according to SoundScan.

And being sick doesn't turn someones voice into Jason Cupeta.

I don't know how many it will sell in ten years, but I know how many it sold in one year = a few copies when compared to all other MJ's releases.
But still that it's not fair to compare it like that

The Essential Michael Jackson sold around 7 million released in 2005
"Michael" sold anywhere from 2-5 million released in 2010

Okay this will sound dumb but how about if he was sick ?

Would you record 12 songs if you were sick? How professional would that be and anyway why would you torture yourself while you are sick when you could sing as soon as you get better?

And that was with the bad publicity surrounding him after the trial. Even with all that, he sold more than the album selling itself as the album he wanted to make!

I can see "Michael" in 10 years with over 10 million sales.
Hopefully by then Eddie Cascio will release that video that was rumored to exist of MJ in the studio recording portions of Breaking News

But Eddie always wanted MJ to record in his studio what if MJ did it just to please him and not make him feel bad

How long did Michael stay there? I think Michael would have said something like, "I need to get better first, then I'll record."

And I see Invincible with over 20 million sold, STILL making MICHAEL the only MJ album of new material to completely BOMB.

For that to happen, it would need to be PROMOTED, something they stopped when Breaking News streamed. And there's apparently no video, a work tape AT BEST.

There would be work tapes and many out takes due to the huge number of takes recorded. They won't release them though because there won't be any Michael on them. If Eddie and Frank really cared about Michael and his fans they would have put them out to stop all this. They haven't because its Jason all over them. Assuming they haven't destroyed them but I have a feeling they haven't.

And according to sound scan Thriller sold around 30 million units

OK, what are the true sales figures of MICHAEL then? And please feel free to discredit my other points I had written earlier about bad quality, Melodyne etc. while you're at it.

10 weeks. And he wasn't even there the whole of that time. He went to New York for the Luomo Vogue photoshoot. I even posted a link to a picture of him with the Broadway Lion King cast during the time he was meant to be at the Cascios.

Around 6 months but the songs were recorded in November and if I heard right before MJ left that same month back to California

Here another example when MJ sings, he doesn't sing out of tune despite the fact that he sings outdoor:

Beau....ti....ful. Only a few lines, but sung beautifully with perfect timing. And that last 'near'.....haven't heard Jason Malachi sing one word like that on all his studio-recordings. Only a pity that Bashir talks through it.

Huh... Could've sworn it was the summer... August 2007 is the popular figure for these songs being recorded.

Websites have claimed from 2-5 million units.

Thriller sold 104 million units in 2006 now around 110 million SoundScan is not really always official cause even the Guinness Book of World Records said MJ sold 104 million

I'm more inclined to believe that MICHAEL sold only 3 million, and if Invincible smashes it, which had terrible promotion, there's a problem. Either way, it's indisputable that MICHAEL was a sales disappointment AND BOMBED.

When did the kids claim that?
