Michael was a pretty darn good rapper.

Now I'm not saying that Michael was/is Tupac or anything like that, but you just can't ignore how good the rapping on Shout is.
While he was better at some things then others I swear that he could do almost anything and at least be good at it.

I sometimes have a trouble distinguishing between rap and singing. Shout is one example; I also feel this way when I listen to Beyoncé's Formation. Not that it makes listening worse, I just don't know how to refer to their vocals.

What about BOTDF intro? Sounds similar.

to me, his best rapping part was on Girl Don't Take Your Love from Me. it's short, but great

I know what you mean, and it is hard to distinguish sometimes.
I find that whether or not it's easy to tell rapping from singing depends a lot on a rappers flow.

It's tricky to dissect singing from rapping with Michaels music because he sings in similar timing patterns as rappers. Rap music (as we know) comes from soul music which is the foundation of MJ's style.. When I hear these songs I don't think rap because the big difference of rap and singing Is using the diaphragm to sing.. Michael 'raps' with his diaphragm.

That said, I still consider it singing!
