First, I think some here need a reminder of how Michael used to look before. Because of his death people are NOW all of a sudden discussing his weight. First his weight didn't kill him, bad mix and dangerous use of medication killed him. Second he was very skinny in his younger years and I seem to recall people talking about how skinny MJ looked during the trial.
Weird no one is talking about it here. Why is that?
Here is Michael from the History Tour Gothenburg. Notice his legs and then his upper body. Michael is two weeks away from turning 39 in this clip. Also, one must know that your body posture changes as you age. Michaels body is slightly different at 50 then at 39. His hips are wider and his neck is facing more forward. Typical sign of people aging.

A dancers body is not like a body of someone who plays sports or lift weights. The muscles build differently when you dance and you look thinner. I dance myself and after I started doing it years ago my body posture changed. My legs are much thinner and my arms are now very thin. I eat probably more food then MJ ever did, but I burn a lot of fat so it doesn't stay on. Part of that is because when you dance you burn A LOT of energy.
Now I know when you exercise the most important thing to do is eat right, and eat enough.
Many think that working out and cutting back on the meals is a good idea, but the truth is that it is dangerous. You destroy your muscles and your body weakens, even your heart becomes weaker if you do not eat enough. Still, a dancer can eat all he or she wants, they will look thinner either way because of what they do.
Michael has always been skinny, but at the start of the History Tour he had put on some weight. Remember back in 1995 when History came out, he looked very skinny at the VMA'S, Soul Train Awards and Wetten Das. But he was in top shape. Then he collapsed during rehearsals for "One Night Only" Some claim it is because Michael didn't eat, but I have heard he had the flu and he pushed his body to the limit. Anyway, my point is that whenever Michael has live projects coming up, he works his ass off to be in shape.
He always looked thin when he toured or did live performances, and if there was a lot of time between performances he would look like he put on weight. That is how it goes for dancers, if you take a long brake your body will put on weight. Then when you start training again that fat you put on will be gone fast.
Michael was 50 when he started rehearsals, but I think it is safe to say he started getting in shape long before that. For a 50 year old you don't work out for a month and then you are back on top. He had to spend at least a year working out to get his body in shape for dancing. And guess what, that is what we saw in the trailer. He was moving even better then he did back in 2001 for the Jacksons reunion. I know from sources that Michael was in very bad shape back then and rehearsed very little compared to what he normally did.
I think these discussions about him being thin are not only counterproductive but misleading.
We know what killed Michael, why must you also ad into the equation his weight? His weight has nothing to do with the cause of death, the autopsy confirms that.
Seeing how his weight was almost never an issue before, even though he has looked very thin before, it being the hot topic now is nothing more then normal reactions from fans wanting to find out what happened. But to do so one must know the facts and know the difference between a healthy skinny person and a sick skinny person. I know people who are far more skinny then MJ ever was and they are fine.
Please do me and a lot of other fans a favor. Keep the health discussions where it belongs, in threads about that and let us other fans enjoy what we have to come.
This is the last time we will see and experience something brand new and fresh from our hero who is now dead. I want to enjoy this time because it will never happen again. I know it sounds selfish and I to have cried over Michael. But I don't want that now. I can't change the past, I know what got him killed, everything else is waste of material.
I want to enjoy seeing Michael dance and sing for one last time even if I am not there watching it live. I can live with that.
But please remember, overanalyzing things will get you nowhere, and none of you can change what happened. I know you need closure but please let it rest for a while.
It is such a bad timing causing upset to people now that we have something to look forward to. Think about what you are doing and consider that there are others who feel like I do. This Is It looks fantastic and I am so looking forward to see MJ move ons tage and not only that, get to see how he works with his dancers and the band and Kenny Ortega. We are getting a glimpse into Michaels proffesional life like we never have before, and I know a lot of people would have killed to see that years ago when he did his other tours.
I feel I have had all the sad days thinking about Michael I can take. I can't mourn forever, and I don't want to miss out on enjoying This Is It. I know I will enjoy it, and I know I will feel sad after seeing the movie because it will then hit me that after all this footage was shot, he died. But I don't want to think about that now or during the movie.
I know some of you will cry your eyes out, and some of you feel guilty for seeing this movie. Don't feel that way. I know Michael would want you to see it. That is why he did it.
Honor him the way he wanted, let the next month be a month of joy. We have had so many before that were sad.
Thank you
