1 was great, 2 turned Ethan Hunt into someone he's not (James Bond), 3 was a step in the right direction and 4 & 5 were great.

I love all the MI films and the first one was a dozzy. One of the few franchises that gets better and better. Tom Cruise must have nerves of steel to do all those stunts!
