I honestly don't know why it is so hard for the Estate to be direct and straight forward. Why released a "partial" statement to Joe Vogel first or release a statement via him? I don't mind waiting. I don't expect to get everything in minutes. If it takes them time to come together with a press release, I can totally understand.

But, what really bothers me is this kind of suspension. I don't think this kind of piece-meal info helps. I don't like the feeling of being fed by bits and pieces.

This is so dumb!! A charity needs to gain peoples trust in order to recieve donations, a charity needs to be trustworthy and that can ONLY happen if its transparent.. I would NEVER donate to a charity which has very limited information on whom or what you are donating to. It will NOT survive if some terms keeps be confidential.

Given that the rest is "confidential," my hunch is that TMZ was correct about Melissa being on the board. The estate should release a statement if she is NOT. I'm not expecting to hear it.

I am sure there will be no more board for anyone to sit on. No where does it say the estate will work with woman are they can use Michael's name

lol so this is the statement lol
I guess the settlement is confidential then.
This is such a drama.
I really want to know what Johnson get in return.
The estate should explain this in more reasonable way.
They don't even mention which part of TMZ story is wrong. It seems that TMZ is not so wrong base on this statement.
Until I know what happened between Johnson and HTWF, I won't give a dime to this charity.

so I guess the estate feels as though Melissa Johnson's and Howard Mann's role is none of our businesses...to me that speaks volumns...WHY keep everything so quiet??? What are they hiding from MJ's fans???

I think that people are jumping to conclusions and making assumptions now. At this point, the Estate has not stated anything about anyone making any kind of donations to HTW. We, at this point, don't know what their intentions are with this. Again, I'm wondering if they are not once again trying to protect Mrs. Jackson with all of this confidentiality and settlements. And, that last part of the statement presses the issue that Johnson won't be using the HTW or Michael's image again. That doesn't sound like a working partnership going on. Maybe that is the best they could do if things are confidential in letting people know that she is hands off. And at some point, we have to remember that as fans we are not privy to all the decisions that the Estate makes.

I am beginning to hope this is true. Like Autumn said, the HTWF is tainted now. When the estate decides to begin Michael's charity it should be with a fresh start.

If the estate owns the rights to htw and they can't use Michael's name that should tell you a lot.
 
I`m sure Johnson is not involve in the Estate`s charity. Trust the Estate. Remember what Johnson said about Branca and what Branca said about Johnson
I´m sure the Estate made a good decision. They have to think about Mann and knock him out.

Well, if johnson is on the board, she doesnt need to be able to use the trademarks or names for herself, does she? So, it's not really an info on what happens with her. And the fact that they kept it in the dark makes me really suspicious.

That's what I think too. Who knows if there is even a role for Johnson to begin with? As I said, she may just wanted to settle because she knew she would lose anyway (esp. considering the latest developments, like "evidence" not being admitted in court) and a settlement would at least save her from public humiliation. From what I can see, the Estate got what it demanded (ownership of MJ trademarks and HTWF) so there was no need for them to drag this to court. They probably took Katherine's health and image into account as well... she is Michael's mother after all, they wouldn't want to be perceived as being 'against' her. About the confidentiality: aren't settlements usually confidential? This may be one of the conditions under which Johnson agreed to settle, that the exact agreements remained confidential so as to not damage her reputation too much.

I don't understand why everyone is so pessimistic. From what is released so far, this is imo the best solution to this situation. Much better than a nasty legal fight that would allow the media to drag MJ through the mud again (e.g. see AP article that claimed Michael abandoned HTW due to child abuse allegations).

She might have gotten paid the monies she expended to acquire the trademarks, plus maybe a sum above that to agree to settle.

I dont know, but we're talking about a woman who claims to be one entity with Michael, so I'm not sure she cares about public humiliation... :p

I may be wrong. While the management of the charity oversees the day-to-day operations, the board should act on behalf of the stakeholders (donators and beneficiaries) and act as a balancing act agaisnt the management. The board is responsible to approve major contracts, officer selections, etc... I don't know if the charity will be in compliance with rules and regulations if there is no functional board.

as long as she nor mann is anywhere near the charity, the estate or the children fine. otherwise i'm done with it
