How wide-ranging was MJ's influence. I mean like, not just in music but in others avenues like visual art (dancing, choreography, music video/films). Did he have influence on any trained dancers fore example.

^^wow. Pretty blatant copy-not just inspirational. Didn't Justin Bieber do something like this recently? Thought I saw a picture of it not too long ago.

You mean this? I wouldn't really call this one a copy of Michael's.

For Beyonce's, if the angel drops down from the ceiling then I'd say it is pretty close to Michael's but if the angel comes up from behind (I can't see a string on him?), I would also just call it similar. I've seen angels cradling people in various paintings/art before so it's not something completely unique to Michael. Can totally see it being influenced by MJ though since I know how much he influenced Bey.

The “Soldier” live intro (Destiny’s Child) is a blatant copy of “Jam” live intro.

Personally, such types of tributes to MJ (Peter Andre, Beyonce, Janet Jackson, etc…) really bother me...

You are absolutely right and I regretted saying that about 2 minutes after hitting "post." I know Beyonce always adored Michael, and I know better to judge from looking at a still picture and not actually seeing the context in a video. The image of an angel comforting a human is as old as time and lives in art and music, etc.

There's definitely a difference between imitation and inspiration-and when I posted this, it reminded me of back in the day when I used to argue violently with my friends that "Smooth Criminal" was NOT a copy of "Girl Hunt"-it was a homage. And SC was Michael's homage to Fred, who he adored. So it's just as likely that Beyonce and maybe even JB used this image as a homage as well.

I prefer authentic material to tributes (that applies to any artist).

She changed the lyrics to her song, the performance is taken from her show on July 13th 2009.. Ring any bells? First date of the TII residence, I believe she was performing at The Staples Center! She was very emotional, and it was adorable to see that home movie of her being so excited to see Michael live in Houston? I think...

I never said the opposite.

So you'd prefer Beyonce writing a new song about Michael, rather than altering a previously written song so that it's about Michael?

Ahh gotcha.

It makes no difference to me because her songs do not interest me…

I was just using her as an example.
