NEW DETAILS about the Cancelled 1995 HBO One Night Only Special

Hold up she was hooking up with Danny and mj at the same time,??
I don't know. I didn't read LMPs book but @summer said in a post above that Riley stated her Mom told her that she hooked up with Danny until 1997/1998. If we are to believe that something romantic was still going on at that time with Lisa Marie and MJ then yes, she would have been seeing them both at the same time 🤷‍♀️

Think they mean United We stand
I would like to see this myself and I was there! There is audio on YouTube. I understood his solo United We Stand performance not being aired at the time due to his contract with CBS for the 30th anniversary show but surely they can release this footage now! 😪

I think Michael would never feel confident about singing live so long as his voice wouldn't have the same "studio" sound. He would love the technology we have now.
A singer who can’t sing live is not a singer in my opinion.

If the world’s biggest entertainer can’t sing live for his audience there’s something seriously wrong.

I think MJs reservations about live shows were not just about upsetting fans, but more to do with having to contend with critics that he wrongly felt he still needed to prove his worth to. It can't have been easy for him to pour everything he had in his demanding performances only to be told he wasn't as good as he used to be. That would have been something that followed him around his whole life, since the success of his youth.

That’s not what @Mister_Jay_Tee said though.

MJ sang live since the age of 8 in front of audiences worldwide so I don’t understand the point you’re trying to make?

There is a narrative within the fanbase of MJ being dishonest to get out of things, such as pretending to hurt his foot for RTT performance, the infamous pyjama day, the spider bite incident, and collapse for HBO, and ofcorse all the issues around TII.
People just didn't believe the guy, people likewise did not believe him when he said he had vitiligo till his autopsy came out. He mentioned he struggled to sleep, he mentioned his doctors, he wrote morphine, no one took what he said seriously. It's so sad.
He did show up to things he didn't want to, TII announcement, the 30th Anniversary, I'm pretty sure his appearances in 2001 where he looked off were appearances he probably didn't want to make.
LMP mentions in her book that someone told her the collapse for HBO was faked. I found this disheartening to read too. The fact that she found out from someone (I think it was KF but not sure) tells us she really didn't know what was going on. It also makes it sound like this information made her response to the situation valid. In no world is it ok to be yelling and screaming at a hospital patient, I found this part cold and entitled.

I feel like, in certain situations, LMPs story changes. Back in the day, she said the collapse was her big realization that MJ was on drugs. It wasn't long after this she filed for divorce stating in part that it was due to the drugs she now knew he was abusing. Interesting that in her book, she stated she was told the collapse was fake. Was she told this at the time or years later (like after his death)? Also, why bring it up? If she wanted to tell her story, great, go for it but I feel like she said some things about Michael in her book that she shouldn't have made public, since he was no longer around to speak for himself on the subject if he wanted to.

I don't know if the collapse was real or fake. There are so many ridiculous stories about MJ that come from outside the fandom that I feel are more worth addressing and debating. Obviously, people can talk about whatever they want and I'm not someone who feels like you can't/shouldn't criticize Michael. I just feel that whatever mistakes he made in his life he paid for each one very dearly and it's over now. Can't go back, can't redo it, no second chances. Some things we are never going to have answers to and it's hard but, unfortunately, that's just how it is ❤️

I agree about LMPs coverage in the book, with regards to the concert, she makes it sound like she found out at the time.

"He was about to do a giant HBO thing, and I think he didn't want to do it, so he feigned a fall and went to the hospital. I kept asking what was wrong with him, and I got a different answer every day. Karen, his makeup artist, told me that he totally planned it because he didn't want to do the HBO thing."

That's a huge accusation to make for someone who wasn't around at the time, and then to make it from hearsay. Of course there was no mention of her yelling and screaming, which is what several eye witnesses claimed. So she did understand how to protect who she wanted in her book. Also no mention of any overlap between Danny and MJ post divorce with MJ.

The chapter on Mimi summed up how I felt about her, really excited with disappointed twist and turns. But its hard not to recognise how happy MJ looked when he was with her. That primetime interview is uncomfortable to watch, but he looked extremely comfortable with her, and that's a side of MJ that only she bought out.

I agree, some things we will never find out. But I find the insistence that MJ was dishonest to get out of things is uncalled for when there is so much conflicting evidence.
