I have just finished this I didn't even know it existed had our fellow member Nora75 not brought it to my attention about a week ago.. Most of what I saw was somewhat new to me despite being a massive fan for over 30 years. I was a fan of the artist and never cared much for his personal life, why would I be, it is his life not mine...

My view is I thought it was devastating, I had to fight tears almost throughout the film (and I lost spectacularly). How can a man that has been through so much shit still stand up and have a positive outlook on his own life and the world? I heard about the whole racist angle as a motive to try to get MJ to the ground and I never really warmed up for it but the way it is presented in "Loving Neverland" and with what I have read about racism the last few years I think there is a point to be made here.
As a European who grew up in good conditions I ever not once realized how bad things could get in the USA but the last few years it seems there is a turnaround regarding racism. I see now that racism mostly likely was a very big motive for some if not most media outlets to bring MJ down.

About the allegations I had more knowledge about the bare facts so there was not a lot of new stuff here but how the media handled it all (back then I only cared about partying) I did not know anything about that. How the media deliberately presented only the news they wanted to hear was shocking, the build up to the verdict, the betting on wether he was guilty or not, the tour through the prison were Michael was going to get send to had he been convicted.... I cannot understand how they could get away with that in 2005 in the USA? The USA the land of the free who condemn every country that is not a democracy...

Then came the aftermath, he was free, not guilty but for the media nothing changed. What is even worse is that even his colleagues and other celebrities joined in the bullying. How could Jack Black come on stage mocking MJ without getting booed by the entire audience? Eminem's videoclip... Mind boggling, those people are so far removed from reality, they're living a lie. The fake award they handed Michael, devastating, this is prime bullying, it is heartbreaking and evil.

But Michael he stood up and continued his fight for justice he is one of the strongest individuals I have ever seen, what a powerhouse. I would never be able to endure what had to endure since the late 80s, I am not that strong, I would have you know ended it... Michael was an oak he weathered every storm and he still stood after getting hit by numerous hurricanes. Incredible and humbling...

PS I hope Taj has even more up his sleeve with his documentary but watching this got me renewed believe that a turnaround is possible the only stumbling block could be that no media outlet will want to broadcast it and after watching Loving Neverland it is not unthinkable...

Bump!

I watched the documentary yesterday and I did not know a lot about the conspiracies, corruptions, etc. Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the 4th part of the documentary because Youtube won't let me watch it. I am going to find my way eventually.

It looks like Michael was very aware of what was happening and he knew how to play the game against Sony. I did not know about his album ''Invincible'' and how poorly promotion for it was. It's unfortunate but I did enjoy a lot of Michael's speeches where he tried to tell the world about the truth. How some people used him for their personal gains and how the problem of racism is still very presents to this day. I was impressed by his books collection and how much he read about Black people and their cultures, problems and injustice. After watching the documentary, I appreciate the song ''They Don't Care About Us'' even more. They even censored a version of the song...

I am glad to see that this documentary tackles the lies about Michael Jackson's alleged sexual abuse. A lot of time is given to the lawyers explaining and defending Michael with facts. Lots of cross-examination where the Chandler family contradicts themselves and how the mother encouraged her kids to say bad things for money.

What about the medias back then? Awful. The media made fun of him. They caricatured him. They didn't talk about the family that contradicted itself. They only talked about what would make people react. It's a shame that ratings/money were more important than this individual's mental health. I am impressed by Michael's strength at that time. Despite everything that happened, he continued to produce music to deliver important messages. He had become a target and he still continued to work and denounce. I don't think many people would have done what he did. Many would have stepped aside and disappeared for the dust to settle. It's no wonder he suffered from depression as I saw in a video or text where his daughter Paris talked about her father taking anti-depressants while he was alive.

I think it's a most watch for people that want to educate themselves about the sexual allegations and how they tried to silence Michael.

Edit: Also, making fun of someone's skin tone? Rude. This vitiligo was really devastating for him.

With due respect, the bulk of the American media didn't just mock or make a caricature of Michael Jackson - they outright demonized him. In their view, he was a worst of reclusive freaks, and a pedophile in line with Freddy Krueger. If they'd have been able to get away with it, they probably would've trapped him in his own house and burned it to the ground. They truly despised him that much, and it wasn't from actual guilt. Their hate came from one place only: insane jealousy. They saw how inherently kind and loving Michael was to most people around him, and that revealed the darkness in their own hearts. Instead of choosing the light, they blasted him with every weapon at their disposal...and ultimately, he died from it. After that, they thought they won, so whenever anyone tried to present Michael as good or peaceful, they used their power in the press to vilify his family and legacy all over again. For every individual like Tom Mesereau or Aphrodite Jones, there's a thousand like Wade Robson and James Safechuck.
