I am just curious to know how people know he has a framed note from Michael that he keeps?

Branca was interviewed by the Associted Press Aug 2009.
I have the story in posted in my blog if you want to read it.
Michael Jackson's long history with John Branca estate executer

Branca said “I actually have a great note he wrote me, it said" ‘
Branca, the catalog is mine. Don’t lose it by over-negotiating."
I framed that note.' ~ John Branca

Thank you. For him to frame it means he takes it very seriously and that is a good thing. He knows how important it was to Michael.

well this is was unexpected but I'm glad to hear about this.. let's see how this catalog thing will work out in the future.

I'm very glad to hear that the rights to Michael's own songs/music will definitely be passed on to his children. Personally, I do not have a strong attachment to the Sony/ATV catalog. Although this has been a brilliant investment so far, if it makes more business sense to sell it some day, fine by me.

Thank you for this clarification Gaz.Its sad to see sony and the estate's name in this bitter light when they are allowing us fans a taste of Michael Jackson's music; its a shame after he passed we fans had no hope of hearing new music from him. sony and the estate are doing for us fans is a big favor.

Thanks, Gaz, always ready for some good news! I will take it at face value and be happy about it.

All hail Sony the beneficent!
Beg to disagree. Sony and the estate are not doing anyone a favor. They want to make money. If there was no money to be made, they would be doing nothing. If they knew they would suffer a financial loss and still went ahead 'for the fans' then I'd consider that a favor. Maybe.

Did anyone else notice the fact that he makes no mention of their intent to perserve MJ's stake in Sony/ATV? I think this is quite glaring.

I'm very nervous...

^^I didn't notice it until you said something. Well, we can go with the fact that that particular issue is not what's at stake at the moment, right? Or did I miss something. They were simply clarifying what was said in a recent article about MiJac, correct? :)

He's only addressing the current issue about MIJAC and its administration from Warner to Sony/ATV. There was some confusion about that. So they are clarifying only that portion of the confusion.

Let's not get worried about Sony/ATV catalog. He did mention that they refinanced the Sony catalog with newly good terms. That tells me that it is safely and securely with Michael's estate. No worries.

This is good news. I do trust in Branca. He is tops in his field with excellent credentials.
