BY CILLEA HOUGHTON

The song was written, performed, produced, mixed and mastered by the all-female team of Jackson, Perry, Beatriz Artola, Emily Lazar and Emilia Schmier. ā€œHit Your Kneesā€ was created in partnership with EqualizeHer, an initiative co-founded by Perry and Alisha Ballard to, ā€œAchieve equal representation of women across all aspects of the music industry, from recording studios to stages to board rooms,ā€ according to the website.

Jackson and Perry met at the EqualizeHer LIVE! event at The Troubadour in Los Angeles in October 2022. ā€œThe single provides a replicable model for engaging more females within song production,ā€ as described in a press release. ā€œIn partnership with EqualizeHer, Paris will use this song to challenge other artists to build a female production team for at least one song on their next album.ā€

Jackson is currently on tour with rock band Incubus, with shows kicking off on Friday (August 18) at Ozarks Amphitheater in Missouri and concluding on October 6 at the historic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. To further support EqualizeHerā€™s mission, Jackson is inviting young women interested in working in the music industry to get a behind-the-scenes look at her show while on the Incubus tour.

Over the past year, Jackson has also released songs ā€œBandaidā€ and ā€œJust You,ā€ in addition to touring with The Revivalists. She released her debut album, Wilted, in November 2020 which featured the single ā€œLet Down.ā€ The album was co-produced by Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra that marked a full circle moment for the young singer, as she listened to Manchester Orchestraā€™s music to help cope with the death of her father, Michael Jackson, in 2009.

Not sure Michael would've liked the lyrics, because he believed in god
I like everything about this song
The problem of evil is the question of how to reconcile the existence of evil and suffering with an omnipotent, omnibenevolent, and omniscient God.
The logical argument from evil is as follows:
P1. If an omnipotent, omnibenevolent and omniscient god exists, then evil does not.
P2. There is evil in the world.
C1. Therefore, an omnipotent, omnibenevolent and omniscient god does not exist.

As a Christian I believe that God might be omnipotent but he doesnĀ“t use his omnipotency. Because his unconditional love includes complete freedom for the beloved (humans, animals, nature). We have to find and act the good ourselves, fight evil ourselves. God is with us and PART of us, and our belief gives us strength to choose good.

Doubting God is part of believing in God, itĀ“s human and an ongoing learning process to seek good over evil and to love. God is in everything and everyone.
