About my marks, Average for an artist I like or really follow is a 7, a 9 is an exceptionally good song by them, a 10 is a true classic and one of my very favourite songs of all time, so my lists show the songs that get last in most cases are still good songs.
10 - A true classic and one of my all time favourite songs by anyone, you can not ask for more as there is no more to give.
9 - Exceptional song, pleasing in every way, but still not the best, there is better still.
8 - A very good song, pleasing to hear and listen to, good overall track, but not the greatest. Minimaln standard for first rate classic albums.
7 - Average song by a great artist, usually a standard song by their standards, nothing wrong with it, just that you know and they know there is much better. Minimal and lesser songs on the great and classic albums.
6 - A slightly disapointing song, nothing truly bad, but it will be flawed in some way, bad writing, poor beat, silly lyrix, too long, boring or just does not make an impact. Still a song that can be listened to. One or two are permitted on any average to great album.
5 - Fillery, a song well below the artists usual standard and generally hard to listen to. Ideally there should be none of these on good albums.
4 - An embarassment for a song, seriously flawed and ridiculous, plenty of Prince songs drop this low, but anything by Michael Jackson is exceptional and there is just one song - Childhood - unlistenable. Overly sentimental, bad writing, boring meody, repellent lyrics.
Under 4 - Unlistenable and not worthy of further comment or ear time.
