How did you get into publishing?
I've always loved reading. As a child I loaned 4 books per week from our local library. It's also a family thing. Mother and uncle both do related things. After I got a BA degree in literature I wanted to be more practical about it, less theoretical, so I started a Master which educated their students to be an editor. It included an internship, and after the internship I've just continue to work for different publishing houses as a freelancer. sometimes I work at home, sometimes on location. sometimes I'm very very busy, sometimes it's a bit quiet. I love working like this as I can schedule my year and I love to travel for at least 3+ weeks, so if I have enough money saved I can just leave to explore. In a few years I would love to work at one publishing house, just to have more stability and a sense of belonging, with collegues and so on, but for now (before I reach 30) I really like it as it is. The only downside to my job is that I hardly read outside of work-related to be published manuscripts. This is a pity as the loving to read part started the passion for publishing. I try to incorporate it more, but I find myself surfing the net for solo relaxation now. Silly, isn't it?

Did you ever consider being a vet?
No. I love animals very much, but I can't stand to see blood and suffering. I'm a wussy. Besides, my math was so poor, I wouldn't get into the required education program - I'm not so much a bèta person, more of an alpha/gamma. I would consider opening a shelter if it was necessary around here. To do my part I collect money for an organisation for the protection of animals and believe it or not, we have a political party for animals, of which I'm a member. I support as many useful organisations financially as I can. My income varies per month, so I can't donate vast amounts monthly, but a few euros I can spare every month. I hope I can do more for the welfare of animals later on in my life. Maybe I would consider a career switch to pursue animal causes.

Do you want to get married and have children?
I married last year actually. I love married life, but everybody is wondering whether we will have kids or not. I still don't know to be honest. I have never had a particular fondness for children and my husband and I love traveling and being around friends and stuff. I really like my life as it is, so I don't know... But I've seen friends suddenly wanting children, so who knows it might happen to me. I do, however, think there are too many humans as it is, so to add some more to the planet's burdens I just don't know... Maybe, maybe not.

Would you name your daughter Eileen?
Funny, I've never considered that! Maybe so yes. I wanted to call my daughter Maria, as I love the sound of that name. I'm not catholic so it's maybe a bit of a strange choice, but it sounds so feminine, stong and just overall lovely.

I have never been snorkeling. What is an experience you have had while snorkeling, something you have seen, that made the world seem infinite and you feel small?
The fun part about snorkeling is that you are immediately in another world. The sound of just your own breathing and nothing else in the tube makes it even more magical. The fish and other creatures mostly just pretend that you're not even there, minding their own business. This gives you a chance to really be part of their world as it is. I once went snorkeling in Kuna Yala, Panama. This place consists of hunderds of small islands, some with just a palmtree on top and nothing else. We were sleeping in the house of an indigena family who brought us in wooden canoo to uninhabited islands. Between twho of those there was a shipwreck where you could easily swim to. The underwater life was amazing there. A little reef, small fish hiding out for preditors, Crabs, jellyfish even a sea turtle. It was all so colourful, serene and utterly beautiful. I would recommend it very much and central america makes for great, great snorkeling.

How do you deal with anger?
I'm not easily angered. But I am irritated beyond belief when people have opinions that I just can't comprehend. I must work on this, if I ever want to get seriously involved in politics. I like debating, but not so much very right-wingy opinions. Although I do have some right-wingy myself on the subject of life and death matters. I get really angry when animals or children are the victim of abuse. But personally, I hardly ever have a fight with my husband/mother/friends. I think if you respect each other and do not intentionally hurt each other, peace is easily achieved.

If you could have any power in the world for a day, what would you like to be able to do?
Make people not want to use animals for their own wellbeing, e.g. eating them, wearing fur, using them as guinea pigs and so on. And I'll give the Miss contest answer: say a spell that results in world peace! For myself I would like to have no fear whatsoever anymore. I think that would make life the best thing there is.

If you could be a whisperer to any animal, which would you choose?
Cats! Cats are divine creatures. I would love to know there secret of being so relaxed and regal.
Great questions, thank you
