Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary- DVD / Blu Ray [available on iTunes Nov 19]

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary discussion Thread

Curious about seeing this documentary, the best way to do it would be to intercut the interviews with studio footage and sound clips of Michael recording but talking to Bruce Swedien like the snippet of Groove Of Midnight

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary discussion Thread

I hope it includes a couple of bits from Moonwalker.....maybe interviews from cast & crew + director!!!

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary discussion Thread

I hope they talk to the group of men that did a song called The Moon Is Dancing at the end of MoonWalker. I love that song :D
Do you mean the group that sounded like African singing--I found that wonderful too.

With the announcement today of the bad 25 edition, is this going to be on tv or how else? I would like to see this since it is not part of the package.

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary discussion Thread

Hoping and wishing for studio footage!

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary discussion Thread

Why on earth would Chris Brown be in the doc?? - He was a baby when MJ was in the studio making magic!!

He can say all kind of stuff, but he was not involved or anything. If Spike Lee has CB in the doc there are two options. 1. the doc is going to be extremely long and have some stupid interviews in it. - 2. it will be a very bad doc with different current artist talking about how much MJ influenced them and how much they looked up to MJ!! - But that's not intresting at all!

I hoped this would be a doc about the album BAD, the recording of the album etc. - not people talking positive about MJ and the album!!

What's next? Justin Bieber talking about how much he likes BAD and MJ? - I don't wanna see that!!

I hear you. It's probably gonna be a mixture...I would imagine the youngins will tell their stories about the 1st time they heard/saw the vid or something of that nature.

!!

Chris Brown will say how he was inspiered from MJ, his idol and he knows him personally. I think it`s ok. to give examples of the influence from MJ to the next generations.

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary discussion Thread

Well,it will be nice to hear interviews of artists talking about how the album influenced them and how they feel about it.Of course the majority of the interviews on the doc should be of people involved in the album and era,but I dont see anything bad with these other types of interviews.

In my opinion that is a waste of time in the doc. - Should it be released on DVD/BR - then it could be ok as extra material.

But we've heard all the stories before. - This is just a way for some "at the moment big stars" to promote themself. - They get TV time and get associated with MJ. - That's great for them, but I really don't see it adding anything good for MJ or the album BAD!

ALL MJ's albums have inspired the artists we have these days - one way or another. Performance, musicvideo, music, etc. etc. - I don't wanna hear all of them on a MJ doc about making the BAD album...

He was not even a baby when Bad was released. He is born May 5, 1989!

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary discussion Thread

The hell just happened?

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary discussion Thread

As a fan, I am not interested in hearing what Chris Brown has to say, because he was not there during the making of Bad, and therefore he has no valuable information. On the other hand, Chris Brown's fans might watch the documentary just to see Chris Brown and end up discovering how great Michael Jackson is. So I think the best way to go here is to have Chris Brown say only one quick line about how Michael influenced him, then cut to more important people who actually have interesting things to say.

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary discussion Thread

is this documentary for tv or dvd?

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary discussion Thread

it seemed like one post was blocking this thread, so I deleted it.

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary discussion Thread

It is obvious Chris is a fan and he's never shyed away from it. His mother who is in her early 40's got Chris hooked on MJ.. Ain't nothing wrong with that.

Re: The Spike Lee BAD 25 Documentary discussion Thread

I'm fine with Chris brown in it. He always respects and admires Michael as far as I know.

Yes he does, but he has nothing to do with the Bad album. He wasn't even born when Bad was released. Justin Bieber also respects and admires Michael but nobody wants to see him in this documentary.

Makes it even more sad...

The hell just happened?

I'm wondering too.... :(

If he only gets 30 seconds out om maybe 120 mins - then ok, fine. More than that, waste of time!

Yes he does, but he has nothing to do with the Bad album. He wasn't even born when Bad was released. Justin Bieber also respects and admires Michael but nobody wants to see him in this documentary.

EXACTLY!!!

 Exactly! It's not just for us, but for the younger and even future generations :cheeky:

This will be a part of HIStory/Legacy and for EVERYone to celebrate! :D

Michael Jackson Documentary

<section>5/15/12
For the last month, I’ve been working at Spike Lee’s production company on a documentary on Michael Jackson’s “Bad” album. For the next few months, I’ll be assisting Spike’s longtime editor, the incomparable Barry Alexander Brown, as we gear up this feature doc for it’s premiere to mark the 25th anniversary of the album’s release in the fall of 1987. Pretty excited to be working on this project as, like most of the world, I’m a huge MJ fan.
