Interesstingly, Bill says proper vocals were recorded at Ocean Way. To my knowledge they've moved to OW in 1990. This would mean, there's an advanced lyrical version out there - all the Estate has to do is locate the multitrack tape.

The track was done at Hayvenhurst in Dec. '86.It wasn't complete enough [to present to Q].
Vocals done at Ocean Way in early Dangerous sessions.
This could be a day mix from the vocal sessions.
It's is authentic.

I've always said that TYLA is technically a Dangerous track

So, the vocals we hear were recorded in 1990? Or there were additional/more complete vocals recorded in 1990?

It sounds more like 86/87 vocals to me.
 
The above is definitely an improvement on the version I have been listening to. The intro drums alone sound different, clearer. There is clipping on the synths still, they sound distorted but it's an improvement.

I have more different versions of Throwin' Your Life Away than I have of Smooth Criminal at this stage.
