The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

I recall speculation that there could be a more complete version of The Verdict than the leaked one. Did any more info come of that or was it just baseless speculation?

Likely baseless assumption. The most the Dangerous-era version got was BGs done under the supervision of Teddy Riley, and it's highly possible the HIStory-era version remained an unrecorded groove.

Was it ever confirmed that the BGs were recorded? If you’re referencing the handwritten list of song titles, could it be possible that he was noting that the BGs still had to be recorded, not that they already were?

Bill's journals must give such an insight into the creative process that goes into making these records. I love how we're finding new information from them
It wouldn't surprise me if his notes for Victory or Dangerous sessions would reveal more songs that were mentioned in the 1993 deposition tapes.

He's been very generous with his time and effort, I hope he knows how much we appreciate it. I love that it's as close to definitive as we're probably going to get on unreleased material

Slightly off topic, but I'd love either more of the 93 deposition or the 1989 deposition that is referenced to leak. It's fascinating to have insight from Michael himself about his work. I'm still annoyed at how little he was asked about his work.

Bill is very accurate when he refers to his journals.

Bill is not very accurate when referring to his memory.

That's not a critique; that's just an inevitability of someone who's live such a wonderful and successful life.

Doesn't this belong in the Porcaro thread?

Bill Bottrell:

Feb 21 Teddy added bass and Feb 22 added some drums to the outro
A ruff mix was done
By June, MB was shelved by MJ, but I still was trying to leave it in a good state - doing some experimental mixes on June 17-18 and the one I truly wish I had: July 8.
It's all in the vault.
Interesting Teddy added parts to Monkey Business…

Indeed. Would be nice if he could share more of his journals from the Dangerous era especially. Then we could get an idea how early or late certain songs came in, how finished other ideas are etc.
