The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Btw someone edited the tracker and added what I believe is false info on the Streetwalker section, such as removing the trash remix. If someone could fix that, that'd be great

Cory Rooney was very annoyed that a mono version of She Was Lovin' Me was used on the album too. They knew full well the original song sounded like a much better "Michael Jackson" song so they had to cripple it.
I wonder if that's why I've never liked the song at all that way. I still think it just doesn't have a lot of passion or strength behind it, but that is with the 2014 context behind it.

Look, Xscape was just a moment in time. It was the last time there was any hype with an MJ project for the common person, biopic excluded. Waking up to the announcement surprise, seeing pop out performances, hearing an incredibly catchy tune like LNFSG in the peak of summer vacation, cover articles about the album in places like Billboard, hearing new snippets of entirely unheard of songs and getting long anticipated leaks served finally to the general public... Like it was a big stimulus for MJ at that time. Especially after the Michael debacle. Even the one word name convention was properly restored.

It's not false, I simply corrected info I misinterperted back when I added it.

Bill Bottrell's post about replacing drums and perc with trash can brushes was about "Dangerous," not "Streetwalker." I misread.

Speaking about love never felt so good . I remember reading on the forums and the opinion was that it was a terrible choice for a single , let alone the first single to be released from the album.

To the point where fans thought it was a joke and the estate had really lost the plot.

Then a few rumours started that the song had been reworked and it was sounding fantastic and really improved it.

It really was!!

Ah ok, however I don't think there are two versions of Streetwalker '87 with different outros. I'm pretty sure the recording of the song that leaked in 2020 has artificial fade out and the outro is edited, its quite easy to loop the choruses actually (I've done it with my edit of the song). Plus, there is no echo when it fades out, plus the audio static fades away with it, which it shouldn't, as the only reason there is static is because of the audio being too loud for the mic threshold. It makes no sense that the static fades away with the song

I'll go ahead and fix that, thanks for pointing that out!

Buffalobill87 mentioned a point exactly like this a long time ago haha.

A Place With No Name, the second single from the album Xscape, would have been fantastic too, but Sony and the estate made the mistake of completely botching the promotion and promoting the single only on Twitter. This still annoys me to this day, because I'm convinced that with better promotion, A Place With No Name would have been just as successful

Genuinely it was the heyday of Twitter so it was pretty popular. In comparison to the Radio and YouTube though, it was an insane gamble.

The fact that the solo remix of "Love Never Felt So Good" was originally made for "Michael" is so interesting to me because it's sound is completely unlike the rest of the songs on the album. Everything about it just screams "Xscape" and I can't imagine the song fitting elsewhere lol.

But I like that it shows the Estate is willing to reutilize their own remixes, I hope they'll eventually release the "Xscape" remix of "Hot Fun" instead of making a new one from the ground-up since that one got a ton of praises. I'm very keen in hearing how it sounds like.

I was hoping that Hot Fun would be released as part of a special edition at the end of 2014. It's crazy how time flies.
Maybe it will be on the biopic soundtrack next year.

When they announced the celebration of the 10 years of Xscape via Instagram last year I was hoping they're gonna release it as an anniversary single, but no. The post apparently was just enough.

I noticed they post the most low-quality versions of widely available photos to their social medias on the regular. They've also recently put out a "wrong" version of the Black or White short film. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if they also do this for MJ's music on official releases.

Like out of the three Anka songs, LNFSG is the weakest one. They had Don't Matter To Me RIGHT THERE.

LNFSG is defo the most radio friendly (out of the Anka songs)

They really worked their magic to turn a boring piano driven basic demo into
something that sounded like classic MJ.

I was shocked at how good they managed to scrub it up. Wasn’t it John McClain who did it himself?

McClain is like a recluse, it’s like he doesn’t exist as he’s never in the spotlight when it comes to the estate , it’s all Branca.
