The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

RE: Somwhere in Time.

I was suspicious Michael solo wrote the song with zero input from anyone, but I don't think that's really a debunk. At the least it should include Michael in some capacity, no? So I did some more digging myself. This Sean Hosein guy didn't start doing anything music related until 1989, meaning his credits are likely to do with that specific version of the song only. This appears true of Dane DeViller as well. Steve Kipner began writing music in 1979, so it's possible he co-wrote it with Michael. But you know what's equally possible? None of them had anything to do with it and they just completely reworked the track for the Glennis Grace album and took credit. Whether or not they knew MJ was involved at all is up in the air. Someone would need to contact one of these guys to find out what's what.

Edit: I emailed Dane DeViller and Steve Kipner explaining the situation. Hopefully one of them replies out of curiosity.

Soooo... anyone made out who the female singer is at the end of Innocent Man? She sings along Michael's harmonies, "innocent maaaaan".

My first reaction was she sounds like Janet, but its way too short to tell. No idea if the credits on the song gives it away?

Thank you for sharing and for looking into it!

It’s a beautiful song, but it definitely doesn’t sound like an MJ track in terms of songwriting. I can’t put my finger on it, but it feels a bit grander than he usually was. Very curious to see the outcome.

lol, that’s Michael.
Listen to every other "maaan", and focus with some earphones or whatever. I wouldn't be so sure if I were you. Michael can sound feminine for sure, but those extra feminine soft vocals sounds awfully more like a female to me, layered along Michael's. I'm saying its both Michael and a female

Closest to this are background vocals and harmonies of Scream, which of course, have Janet in them for the softness.

It's still Michael. I know what you mean, but you can hear it more clearly in the HQ file.

I’m glad Somewhere in Time isn’t an MJ song because it’s actually released and now I can listen to it easily. It’s a nice song is my point.

On the topic of female vocalist singing along MJ in songs;

I still wonder who the female rapper vocalist in Shout, the one who raps along MJ in the last rap verse

It's great to finally have some information about this legendary song.
Were you able to get any additional details from the person who played the track for you? Does it include full vocal tracks, for example?
It does not have a full-fleshed out vocal track, it's got piano, and a drum machine (likely a Linn or LM1). It sounds more like a jam session (akin to There Must Be More To Life Than This).

Somebody's bought Shana's cassette copy of Bryan Loren demos.

55k + shipping and tax for a bunch of passed mid and already out songs 😭😭🥀
Better than some other prices at least.

It seems so.

I recall hearing 81 a long time ago, but it's probably closer to early 84 when she decided on a solo career.

People here say D.N.A. doesn't have vocals. Apparently Apocalypse Now might though.
Apocalypse Now is nothing but drums.

This was the seller I messaged questioning if their tape was legit, because why does it just have a random assortment of Loren tracks? And they're typed out? It's probably legit, but it seems like something someone made without Bryan's consent tbh. As much as I want to hear the Superfly Soul Sister bridge, the tracks just aren't worth that. Don't Believe It is the only full MJ thing on there we haven't heard in full. The rest is just background vocals, and I doubt that version of Truth on Youth even has MJ rapping. I'm curious what the offer price was... there's no way someone paid near 50k for that.

This is a cassette personally dubbed by Shana Mangatal. She has HQ version.
And in that version of “Truth on Youth,” Michael didn’t record the vocals.
I think the offer price is probably around 40k, but I don’t think it’s worth it. I hope it leaks soon and becomes free.

That makes it even worse for the price. I wonder if the buyer lurks here.

I've no idea where else to post this but this sounds incredible. I love how it uses the section that was also shown in the Deepak Chopra interview which usually gets glossed over. Feels like I'm listening to the full real track.
