I have to say the german speaking countries really do know how to make excellent tasting cakes. Especially what they call "torten". And all the different varieties.

I like our stodgy British puddings. They're not that sweet. I'm not keen on the fancy European things. Sorry, people! No offence but they are too sweet for me.

People get quite creative in how they interpret the recipe. I have no idea if there is a 'classic' version bc cake is not my thing.
