UK SALES - Week Ending 14 March
In the first full week since the damning four-hour documentary Leaving Neverland was screened on Channel 4, sales of Michael Jackson albums have increased considerably. 2003 compilation Number Ones jumps 61-28 (2,770 sales) to achieve its highest chart position for 106 weeks, while 2005 compilation The Essential climbs 168-97 (1,252 sales). 1987 studio set Bad and 1982’s Thriller return to the Top 200, at No.110 (1,147 Sales) and No.141 (978 sales) respectively. Overall sales of Jackson albums last week increased 210.21% to 21,389. In stark contrast, radio is turning away from Jackson. In the four weeks leading up to the screening of the documentary, the 423 stations tracked by Radio Monitor aired an average of 4,174 tracks by Jackson every week (4,214, 4,151, 4,254 and 4,076). That fell to 1,989 in the week the programme was screened, and to just 221 in the latest frame – just 5.29% of the average for those four weeks.

Huge sales increase!

Great sales - but very bad news about the radio plays... Hope that is just these few weeks and then it will be back to normal.

Its only natural in the METOO movement that radio airplay would drop. God help them if one person was traumatized by listening to Billie Jean lol. Trust me, give this a few more weeks to simmer down and airplay will start to creep back up again. Even most DJ's have said they aren't playing MJ right now out of respect for the environment but plan to play his music again once it dies down.

The reality is if we fast forward another few months this entire debacle will retreat deep into the internet and the public will move on. MJ will still be played on 99% of radio stations, and life will resume.

All these radios baning him will be back playing him again very soon. Imagine during Halloween season, they don't play Thriller on their crappy radio station. Yeah, that won't happen. I'm not even bothered about these radios ban. As if radios even matter much in this day and age.

Stable UK week.

Although not an "official" chart, I have been keeping tabs on MJ's official YOUTUBE page since March 2nd when this doc aired. Since this time Michael Jackson's official music videos have received 167 MILLION new views. This is just on the Michael Jackson official page! It doesn't count any of the fan uploads, or anything else MJ related. Its just funny how Leaving Neverland has had about 20 million viewers (TV+online) worldwide since its release, and MJ's old music videos got literally over 8X as many views. The public would much rather focus on the music.

The radio stations that have chosen not to play him are really doing themselves a disservice. It is disappointing that they would do that based on allegations alone (from questionable sources) rather than fact.

Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" debuts on the R&B Streaming Songs chart for the first time (#12).

It's his second highest peaking recurrent track on the chart to date (after #1 "Thriller").

No one paying that lying doc no attention but haters (and we all have haters like Steve Harvey said just morning). thanks

Michael's music continues to chart very well, no different from last year it looks like. Nobody is cancelling MJ.

Like I said from the beginning the only people who are against MJ are the elite members of the media and the snowflake MeToo crowd. The vast majority of the public is still pro MJ.

How does it look with MJ's radio plays? - It dropped a lot after LN - is it going up again now?

How does it look with MJ's radio plays? - It dropped a lot after LN - is it going up again now?

Considering I have heard ZERO media reports about the radio airplay, I would assume it has recovered somewhat. Positive news about MJ never gets reported ;)

Case in point..... MJ got to keep his name on that school, and only THREE media outlets worldwide reported on it. If the decision was to remove him, I GUARANTEE there would be dozens of outlets jumping on it like a dog in heat.
