I'm thinking it's to do with songs being streamed. I think 10 of the classics streamed multiple times constituted Number Ones, yet if more than the 10 classics are being streamed this is why Essential has charted, as Number Ones hasn't for the first time in years

But I have noticed The Essential seems to be doing better than Number Ones.

What I find most fun is how man in the mirror only reached nr 21 in its original chart run but it reached nr 2 after he died. I remember being surprised that MITM was the to go to song after his passing in the UK. In Belgium it was Beat It that sold the best.

I would love it if someone could explain why the No.2 chart position for MITM 2009 doesn't show up here.

There was a big push to get MITM to No.1. Radio was behind it. I was surprised it didn't work.

P.S. MITM got to No.2 first time around. I'm confused by your mention of No.21.

I feel as if I'm going mad, lol.

The link shows Weeks on the Chart as 30. Where does 5 weeks come from?

Rhetorical question. I've decided I need to just live with this mystery. I already have been living with it for years. I have looked at this page many times and the data never changes so either I'm looking at it wrong, which hardly seems likely, or ... actually, I dunno. I don't have an explanation. 🤷‍♀️

It shows the peak position in 1988 was No.2 not No.21. And I know it got to No.2 bc I was there.

MITM got to No.2 in 2009 which is why the radio DJ's were pushing it to get to No.1. That's what everyone wanted but it didn't happen.

In the link given, it shows that Man In The Mirror peaked at #2 during 16 weeks run after Michael's death in 2009.

I'm surprised the Dangerous singles's as well.

I checked the Heal the world: it was certfied as Gold on 01.01.1993. The song spent 5 consecutive weeks at number 2 (behind Whitney's I will always love you). I'm sure it is eligible for platinum.
Black or white's latest certification (Gold) date was 27.09.2019, first certification (Silver) date was 01.12.1991
Remember the time's certification (Silver) date was 22.01.2021

Interesting that there were only 2 certifications around the releasing dates of the singles.
