Michael reaching top 10 in major music markets such as the UK and the USA in 2025 is not something I ever imagined in my wildest dreams.

He did it on his own

We need to let that sink in for a moment.

and not due to the help of a popular contemporary artist.

There was no promo.

Michael’s useless estate and record label don’t even bother to promote Thriller during Halloween.

This is just one reason I cannot buy into the theory that Sony is behind the scenes artificially pushing Xscape and / or Chicago to get good streaming figures. If you were going to 'game' the system surely the easier job would be Thriller during October?

This success is purely down to (a) Michael’s timeless music and

(b) The hard work and effort of everyone involved in Thriller challenge.

Can you imagine where Thriller might have landed in the charts if the biopic had been released October 2025? Not that I'm complaining. This is an epic achievement and the Thriller challenge peeps can be justly proud of themselves.

Congrats to all the Michael Jackson fans on this amazing achievement.

Yes, exactly! It would be much easier for The Estate and Sony to artificially push Thriller or any popular song Michael released during his lifetime to get good streaming numbers than some relatively unknown posthumous song.

I am expecting Thriller to peak higher next year. Hopefully, the Biopic will be a success, and more people will be Michael fans.

I personally didn't think that it was possible for a posthumous artist who has been dead for so long to reach the top 10 without a feature of a modern artist. Michael's previous two top 10 hits in the USA were Love Never Felt So Good and Don't Matter To Me, both songs that featured popular contemporary artists.

But I am so happy to be proven wrong.

It's just a shame that the Halloween season is so short. It's literally just a day, whereas the Christmas season is nearly two months long. That is why every year, Mariah Carey's Christmas song reaches number 1, whereas it is extremely hard for Thriller to reach that milestone. But the top 10 is a wonderful achievement too.

Exactly. It's extremely negative. Streaming creates a huge amount of damaging pollution. Micheal would be turning in his grave.

No offence but doesn't this mean that you need to look at the trends behind the data?

To be honest... No.

I don't care enough. I said it was important. I have no motivation to go and research the answer.

I'm just saying it would be a much better thread if it actually said something, instead of simply regurgitating abstract numbers.
