The Official 'Michael' Bio-Pic Thread

Cmon guys this is a good thing How often does he blink his eyes, and his entire body language screams "liar."

All his previous lawsuit attempts were dismissed and even the judge called him a liar numerous times. He dares to speak on behalf SV victims
He better f*** outta there...

When I first saw the film I gave it a 7 because of how fast paced it was wishing they went into more detail but I find myself desperately wanting to go again, so it must've been quite good lol.

Only issue is, my first showing was IMAX. Second was Dolby Atmos. IMAX is just a different beast.. gotta be the best way to experience it for sure.

What is wrong with them? Critics score was 40%...

The movie was just NOT good.

I could not believe my eyes watching Thriller and Billie Jean.

The ONE thing I found amazing: ending with Bad. That was an excellent choice.

And Bill Bray. Now people know that there was a Bill. HE WAS SEVERLY UNDERUSED.

OTHER THAN THAT:
IT WAS JUST A VERY TACKY MOVIE.

Negatives: it genuinely felt like a non stop music video where there were very little moments to let the movie breathe. I started to become quite frustrated early on that dialogue was very sporadic.

The script is lacking massively in depth! So many missed opportunities to develop character and relationship amount the family! Little to no interaction between the siblings which I think does them a massively disservice. They were like non speaking extras.

The characterisation of Michael was hugely cliched
That's exactly what I feared after seeing the trailers. Even the dialogue is very clichƩd. I'll see the film in a week or two and then form an opinion. Ultimately, though, you have to be aware that the film is meant to generate further revenue in the form of music sales, and therefore it has to appeal to the masses.

Could've used more songs from Bad and Off The Wall.
They making him say he want to shine his light on the world. Where was Man In The Mirror?
Another Part of Me, iconic concert video, why go and use "Bad" at the end.
Maybe they should have used the reshoots to film Wembley Man in the Mirror after Bad. It would have improved the ending.

I guess its possible that they just didn't want to replace the already filmed 1992 performance. They seem to be very proud of it since it was the first photo released. They want to use it in Part 2.

Michael Movie Review.Michael is a film made with a lot of affection and respect for Michael Jackson's story. The biopic shows the beginning of the King of Pop's journey in an exciting way, highlighting from early on the absurd talent he had and how he was born to be a giant. The film manages to convey well this idea that Michael was not just a singer; he became a symbol and marked generations with his genius. The musical scenes are one of the strongest points. Antoine Fuqua's direction brings a lot of emotion to the shows and performances, showcasing all the grandeur Michael had on stage. You can feel the care in every moment, especially in the recreations of the most iconic performances, which carry an enormous nostalgic weight for those who grew up following his career.Another standout is Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson. He delivers a powerful performance and manages to portray well the tough, controlling, and ambitious side of Michael's father. Even if the film doesn't delve too deeply into this aspect, you can see how that relationship impacted his life, and Colman does it very well. And Jaafar Jackson truly surprises. Playing Michael Jackson is no easy task, but he manages to bring the energy, mannerisms, and stage presence in a convincing way. In the dance and music scenes, he shines, and moments like the recreation of ā€œThrillerā€ are thrilling and full of nostalgia. It's the kind of scene that brings back childhood memories and everything Michael represented for so many people. It's hard to stand out amid so many recent biopics that stick to the same narrative formula. In 'Michael,' the script isn't particularly ambitious either; the production unfolds from Michael Jackson's point of view, who built his talent through harsh childhood experiences. The film's symbolism about lost childhood and not looking back at his father demonstrates the fragility of the icon who became a legacy, and yet, he still had his inner demons. The bright stages were Michael's Neverland, where he found in the expression of his voice the strength to overcome traumas and turn his talent into a mission for the good of those most vulnerable, just as he once was.The only problem is that the film ends up staying too much on the surface. It moves you, pays homage, and shows incredible moments, but it doesn't delve deeply into Michael's complexity. It lacked exploring more of his personal side and everything that made him such a unique and complex figure. Even so, that doesn't take away from the film's merit. In the end, Michael is a moving and nostalgic tribute to the greatest artist of all time. It may not delve into everything it could have, but it delivers standout moments, great performances, and a lot of heart. For fans, it's a film that will move you deeply and remind you why Michael Jackson became eternal.

Robson is speaking out too ... posting on social media, "I honestly don't really know how they can make this movie and not think of the victims. I'm sorry."

Says the guy who made up his stories based on actual victim reports

Katherine says something like "believe in Jehovah's plan" once in the movie, that's the only mention they make of the Jehovah's witnesses.

Tbh I think Michael's background as a Jehovah's Witness had more impact on his life than the (horrific) abuse by his father(!)

Let's imagine fans would be asked to pre-watch the movie to advise what could be wrong. I would say:
1. Jackson's 5 Era - it could be improved little bit especially with Diana Ross appearance but it is not must have.
2. The Jacksons - definitely missing for example Michael became stronger songwriter (This place hotel creation or performance) but a least The Wizz casted by Michael, evolving relation with Diana Ross and meeting Quincy.
3. Off the Wall Era - they could put more focus on DSTGY - that this his own song and not just final vocals laying in the studio. At least by mentioning it in the dialog. For Triumph Tour I would choose to show Rock with you.
4. Thriller Era - more song creation process. Beat It Demo laying on the tape without instruments (instead of what we got) and legendary coming up with Billie Jean bass line in the car / transferring it to studio creation with musicians (there is no interaction with musicians in the movie). No Quincy touch anywhere. For Thriller the issue with Yehowa witnesses blocking the video.
5. Paul McCartney advise about music catalog buying. At least without Paul.
6. Between Victory Tour and Bad - We are the world night.
7. Cameo of Freddy Mercury at least few seconds

Come one. Could be perfect but the story is now really flat. Not fans would thought Michael got ready songs and have no impact on creation process.
