The topic of HSP ( Highly Sensitive Person) - Let´s discuss and chat

So, on Monday I can talk to a psychologist here at rehab. We already had a group setting and talked about stress management...most people there told they were stressed by work...sometimes...or by housework... sometimes...and I thought...well, feel like I am stressed all the time.

Not just work and chores. But annoying sounds, people, smells, harsh sunlight, etc. - already feeling weird again because everyone here enjoys the sun, I closed my curtains all day and only leave the building with sunglasses and headphones 😂.
When people look at me weird because I prefer the shade, I say: I love the sunlight, but only if I am in the shadow. My boss thinks it's so strange I can't look at the computer screen with the sun blasting through the window, even when the see through, flimsy blinds are drawn. She HONESTLY asked me why I don't wear special subscription glasses if I have "this problem". Lol wtf? What kinda glasses, and what insurance would even pay for those?
I am already a little excited about the appointment... have to make notes. I am asking myself what's "normal" atm and what's not and how to feel more relaxed in daily life. Maybe I am a vampire? But I am vegetarian...hm...so many questions 👀
If you like to share about your appointment, please do! Curious about what the therapist will recommend.

It also depends on the overall temperature and angle of the sun if I can enjoy it or not 😅.

Yeah, the computer screens... people at my workplace often have blasting, white/blue LED-lights on, don't know how they survive this 🫠.

Maybe she meant these blue light filter - glasses? But they have a different purpose.

Interesting, ... maybe there are even features for glasses for photosensitive (?) people. I need to find out ... but one thing is for sure, it will cost another leg, arm or kidney to pay for those lol

Don't know about that 🤔. But you can get the ones with the blue light filter quite cheap.

So, we didn't really get into the HSP - topic. I mentioned these things and also said that I think I might be on the ADHD - spectrum (because that would explain a lot). But she said it's probably just stress related. Don't really believe that, she also said something about ADHD that isn't correct, so I am a little confused 😅. But I will have another session and maybe ask again/more specific questions. Will give an update in case there is something interesting/new.

You should find a specialized psychiatrist who is able to make a diagnosis / test. There are some, but I heard the waiting lists are long. But it can make a huge difference to have a diagnosis in case you have ADHD! Access to treatment / support / help is propbably much easier then.

I don’t call myself a HSP. My marshmallow heart is a gift from God that has been created and developed itself. I think it’s sad that society feels the need to come up with a label for everything, including something as basic as human emotion…I wish more people allowed themselves to feel and open up to the purity of the raw truth that lives inside themselves. But for some reason they prefer to limit it.

Yep, it's really hard to get an appointment. But she gave me web addresses to find "general" therapy, maybe that's a start.

Well, I agree that you should just be yourself. But when you have a certain diagnosis it's easier to cope with it in daily life. Today's society is very complicated and uncomfortable when you are not neuro typical. It's even hard for people who don't have any "special needs".
