The Truth About Michael And The Story Of Him Supposedly Being At The Towers On September 11

I've wanted to share this for a while but as today is September 11 and I've seen this story all over the place, its time to share it now.

Many of you know that I was one of the fans who was in New York for The 30th Anniversary Concerts in Madison Square Gardens and outside the hotel where Michael was staying The Palace Hotel. Over the years I've shared my story of the concerts and being in New York on September 11 and the days that followed.

I also shared the stories of how Michael looked after us during the days we were stranded. How he instructed his bodyguards to stay at The Palace Hotel and make sure we were ok.

What I haven't shared up until now is that I and many of the fans that were stranded have kept in contact all these years with one of those bodyguards. His name is Henry and during those days in New York a bond was created between all of us. He and Mike made those horrific days a bit easier, making us laugh and smile and being our link to Michael and happier times.

Over the years I have never asked him about Michael, if he is kind enough to share things, great, but for me, he is part of my New York experience, something very few people really understand.

But the one thing that I did want to ask him, is this urban myth about Michael having a meeting in The Towers but he overslept and didn't make it. I have tried over the years to say this was not true, but I am just a fan, and people wont believe me.

So a few months ago, I asked Henry, the one person who knows the truth. Here, once and for all is the truth, straight from the person who was there.

That is also an urban myth and a lie.

The truth is Michael and the kids left The Palace Hotel around 2pm on Tuesday 11th September. I saw them leave. They went to a private house in New Jersey, which we learnt later was the Casios home.

Michael was in daily contact with Mike and Henry by phone. He would ring them each evening to get updates about us. He didn't check out of the hotel, so Mike and Henry were able to stay in the same rooms that they had been staying in.

Michael stayed in New Jersey until all of the fans who were known by Mike and Henry were able to get home. When the airport opened I was on the first flight back to Ireland, but others were not so lucky, and ended up staying extra days due to the chaos with the airlines. Michael hired a tour bus and Mike and Henry brought a group of fans out to New Jersey overnight and parked outside the house where Michael was. Its not my story to tell, as I wasn't there, but some of my friends were. They didn't see Michael but he phoned to make sure they were ok.
 
Jermaine started the "Urban Myth" in his book. Stating that Michael missed the meeting due to being on a late phone call to Katherine. Jermaine said Michael thanked Katherine for saving his life.

So Jermaine made the whole story up?

Yes, that is what I am saying, Jermaine is lying. The truth is here, first hand from Michaels bodyguard Henry.

Jermaine and the Jackson family were staying at a different hotel, The Plaza. I know this because many of the fans were going between the two hotels, The Palace and The Plaza and meeting and taking photos with the Jackson family.
 
would not be the first time someone of the jackson family is lying... 😅

Because the people who were there choose not make the photos public. It was a very traumatic time and it was long before social media and digital photos. Back then we printed out photos and it cost money.

I have photos of all the fans outside The Palace hotel, both before September 11 and afterwards , with Mike and Henry. Again I choose not to put them online, but I have them printed and in a photo album and I show them to people in real life.

I am talking about me and my friends in New York in September 2001. We didnt have video cams, we had cameras. Yes video cams were available, but specifically WE did not have them on that trip.

This is getting silly, look you either believe me or don't, that's up to you. but there ways to prove I'm telling the truth, and that Henry is telling the truth.
 
I'd always assumed somebody made that story up because it sounded good.

I wasn't trying to doubt you. I was genuinely interested to hear your story. I was in NY for the first concert but unfortunately didn't have time to wait at hotels, I left a few hours after the concert. And thank god that I did!

And Frank Cascio claimed in his book that he was the one who was supposed to bring back the watch but overslept. So was he supposed to go there with the bodyguards or did he make that up?

From Frank's book:
I had my alarm set for seven forty-five the next morning, because I was supposed to bring the $2 million watch back to the Bank of America, but I slept through the alarm and awoke only when the phone rang. It was Henry, Michael’s security guard. He said, “Hello, sir, I just want to let you know that planes hit the Twin Towers.”
The night before, everybody had been joking about how I was going to take off with the $2 million watch. Still in a fog, I didn’t properly understand what Henry was talking about and assumed it had something to do with the watch.
“Oh shit,” I said. “I’m sorry. I forgot to bring the watch there. I’ll go right now.” I started to scramble out of bed. I was late! I had to get to the World Trade Center—to Bank of America.
“No, sir,” Henry replied. “I don’t think you fully understand. We need to get out of here. Do you have any idea where we can go?”

Sure people had camcorders but it wasn't typical. I only had a film camera at the MSG concerts and practically none of the photos were any good. It's why I bought a digital camera in 2002.

Thanks for the clarification, makes me wonder where that story of the road trip came from.

So nice to hear these stories of MJ helping fans, maybe one day those fans on the tour bus will also share their stories.
