Thriller 40th Anniversary

The 360 reality audio versions of the original Thriller tracks just put on Amazon music sound great to me. Particularly loved Billie Jean and Human Nature.

Out of the unreleased tracks on disc 2 I adore Who do you know. It made me feel like I was listening to Michael for the very first time. What a delight. Makes me want to avoid leaks to experience totally brand new tracks hopefully in the future.

OK OK so I just listened to the 360 reality audio version of PYT and my mind is blown. At about 2:12ish just before Michael does his "Uh!" And breathy ah ah ahs THERE IS A VOICE SINGING "PRETTY YOUNG THING YOU MAKE ME SING"

FOR THE 34 YEARS I HAVE LIVED I THOUGHT THAT WAS JUST MUSIC.

cant hear that. where?

The burbs in the booklet are just the same poorly written ones posted on the website.

Edit: I guess you mean the original album tracks only?

It wouldn't surprise me. Seems the estate fall out with everyone lol. I'm sure it's everyone else's fault and not them at all.
Yes, the original album tracks! They’re far better written than those for disc two. Like, for “Beat It”:

Leave it to Michael to transform the words “beat it”—an antiquated catchphrase for “go away”—into an impassioned rock plea for cooler heads to prevail. When Michael invited Eddie Van Halen to contribute his now-iconic guitar solo, Van Halen was already a certified rock star. “Beat It,” however, introduced him to a new global demographic. The single made history, becoming the first hard rock song ever to top Billboard’s Black Singles chart.

Nothing spectacular, but more than competent. Far better than we can say for the new tracks.

Just watched Thriller 4K for the first time and I was blown away. If there is anything positive to come out of this project that everyone can agree with, it would be the 4k videos for Beat It and Thriller.

That begs the question. Where is the 4k video for Billie Jean?
Same question.... Where is the 4k video of Billie Jean

I don't think there'll ever be a 4K version of Billie Jean. It was shot in 16mm film, which is limited to 1080p max (some say 2K, but that's for extra sharpness).

Where is it? Well, I think they're still working on it. It seems that the video was edited on tape, so none of the effects are there in the film master(s).

I don't understand the wait on anything anymore. everything is filtered... for what reason?

Many of us here, we have 40 ...50 and 60 years....how many more years do you plan to wait? 20 more years? At 80 years old, do you want to listen to Tomboy ?
(if they reach 80 years) and how is the world going... if civilization arrives...

life is very short, we already wait many years (since MJ's death, the clock began to count , and it's been more than a decade.
The more the years go by, the more value these melodies lose, which the new generations will no longer even know, and will not value like us... the fans who saw MJ in his best years.

It's too late to wait for MJ's "glory", we only have to filter as much as possible... and enjoy it now... tomorrow will be too late... look how many fans have passed that never got to hear what we hear today. Mj is no longer with us & I just....(sigh)

From a french article, as to why we might miss songs like Hot street on thriller 40.

" Will there be other Michael Jackson unreleased one day?

Yes, assures Laurent Hopman, there are still many unpublished works by Michael Jackson. Some, like Hot street , and Night Line , have already leaked, but in poor quality. “There are a dozen or so titles, recorded during this period, which we know of and which are sufficiently accomplished to be interesting. But these titles, produced by Quincy Jones, will not be released as long as the famous producer is at odds with the singer's estate.

"The estate did a musical show in Las Vegas, 'Michael Jackson One,' using recordings of music produced by Quincy Jones, but they remixed it, partly to avoid having to pay royalties." The dispute even went to trial, with the producer claiming millions of dollars from Michael Jackson's estate.

Another producer, Steve Porcaro, member of the Toto group, also owns a few. "But the estate was not ready to pay enough to have them", underlines Laurent Hopman."

So 12 releasable songs from Thriller made with Quincy. I wonder what all the titles are... Thank you for sharing this btw.

Well, Freddie Mercury died for over 30 years and still they are releasing new songs. I have the impression most members here are in age 20 to 40, even there are members under 20. I wouldn`t be far-sighted to release everything. It´s the nature that there are older fans who will not see the release of some songs in their lifetime.

I don't have that long. I wish!

I really hope I'll still be rocking out at 80 but, realistically? It might not happen. Things do change.

look how many fans have passed that never got to hear what we hear today.
I'm glad someone understands this. I just want MJE to do a couple of lovely big box sets. Is that so hard? I can't see why.

Or they could just make an official MJ account and post on there. Kinda sick of them trying to make it about themselves.
Don't think they are making it about themselves, What you have to remember is Smooth, they are here to represent an artist who valued magical and illusion and who's character was built on privacy, keeping him alive and relevant in the 21st century so that's quite hard for John and team to do in this " in your face" - day and age. Social Media blows the fabric of the true artist art away -It's hard to see Michael Jackson "tweeting"- It looks weird - Do you understand that ? Did you experience the Michael Jackson era before the huge social media input ? Not talking about a few chat rooms and such, I think they are adamant to keep the illusion Michael so very much believed in and i am in the majority here i know , but i congratulate John for now... I appreciate he has not made a "Michael Jackson " tik tok. My OG fan friends would blink.
i would not want that job- It would be hella painful and kind of impossible for 2022 - So, with regards to this fact , I think John is doing okay so far. Ill update and/ or take the praise all back - if i notice if he starts changing his dynamic.

Idk I am so mad. But at the same time T25 was worse and I wasn’t as mad.

M was here though with T25 so he could approve things it felt alright, now we just will never know...
His approval didn’t mean much. It was a trash project. Horrible remaster of the album and horrible remixes.

Now we got a better remaster (older) and demos. Yet the execution sucked soo bad.

I do love T25. But now we have T40 .....
now if only they can release a demo only cd but i doubt it . they are after new blood / new fans. Quite rightly so. i want Michael's legacy to live generation to generation, and long after i and my og's have left this world. Don't care if i never hear it all because i was not meant to just like Michael was not meant to die. Music never stops even if life does- Future gens are waiting for his art. Michael Jackson is a legacy . His art is for the future generations and although we dont like it much , and feel passionate about it all , and wanna hear everything /have it all released- these people know whats best for his legacy . John and the people after him - have a plan for that. i trust that.
.
