It's turned out the song's not that awful I thought it'd be when I first heard a snippet some weeks ago. This said, I think TMO has potential to turn into a good song, had it been further worked on and completed by Michael. Some interesting elements & ideas in there.

Of course, the recent leak is just a day mix, kinda a snapshot of a particular moment from the then ongoing sessions - but imo it's enough to see where MJ was heading with this track.

In fact, I can see an updated, more polished version with refined lyrics easily fit on the History album - let's say instead TTA or TJ.

One more thing, is it a 6/8 I hear? Anyone with music knowledge here?

I’m exactly on the same page as you. I didn’t really care much for the snippet, which left out the best part, the bridge. It’s the best part of the song by a mile in my opinion. I like the track, but of course the excitement of getting a full track out of nowhere is a factor.

The song has great potential. I think if you kind of stitch together the best parts of all those verses and make them make sense and do some different things with the instrumentation it could be a dope release. Maybe a duet would fit with this song?

Woah woah woah…
Easy tiger!

I like ‚Turnin‘ a lot.
But TTA or THE Tabloid Junkie???
That’s sacrilegious…
D.S. maybe but Tabloid - NO WAY!!!

Can someone please post the snippets that were posted in the past? With date of upload.

This whole "creation" is not the "real deal". i am not using the word fake. my opinion.

TMO is one of his most interesting new songs of recent years, purely from a sound perspective, which is experimental and powerful. The theme, however, seems to me to be a traditional one for MJ, about the Dirty Dianas and Billie Jeans of this world.

I hope someone manages to turn this into a real, catchy MJ song.

What do you guys think… is there a more complete version in the vault?

Wasnt TMO considered for Xscape?

I find it an interesting experiment, I like it a lot. It's for this reason that Michael was in the studio trying to improvise; it's like something from Captain EO but mixed with "Do You Know Children Are." I can't believe people say it's MJ's worst song when there's "Can't Get Out of the Rain."

Surely, someone where with proper audio remastering or enhanching skills can do a good job with this new leak? The mix is quite awful and inbalanced as most of you have mentioned by now.

The song is interesting to say the least. Not the worst BAD era outtake, but not the best either. The bridge is the peak. I think the song maybe lacks a proper snare and drum as well as pushing his vocals more forward in the mix.

Edit: It would be appreciated if said person also would do its magic and remaster the original CGYWOOM leak (the filtring in that is so awful) and Throwin' Your Life Away. Often when new unleaked full MJ songs leak, they leak in a muddered quality, and the real high quality file never sees the light of day, unfortunently.

Wouldn't be surprised if KaiMakesMusic is already working on it. 😃

Just listened for the 1st time. Not bad, not great. It's got that 80's vibe.

One of those tracks that needs to be listened to multiple times to see if it grows on me.

I’d give it a 6.5 out of 10. Very unique, with an excellent bridge. I think Bottrell was being a bit extreme when he called it unlikeable, but I can definitely understand why it’s proving to be divisive. It’s one of the most unique MJ outtakes we’ve heard, and it doesn’t scratch the same itch as most of the Bad outtakes.

Why not? I can see the songs potential.

TMO is, even in its clearly unfinished state, more interesting than AP, which imo is kinda monotonous and bland - despite it's pretty much fleshed out vocals.

As someone pointed out in a YouTube comment, in verse 3 it sounds like he says "You look to me like you're Marlene Dietrich" lol

Turn it off 😭🙏

Ngl, I keep going back to the bridge, makes me wonder how the track would've turned out if they had developed it further. Too bad the verses are stuck on that same monotonous melody all the way to the chorus, and after the bridge there's basically nowhere left to go… you could just end the track there since it offers zero variation for minutes on end.

I like seeing how the fan reactions differs between platforms, although on here it's mixed overall there are still a fair share of people who enjoy the song, while on Twitter everyone is just trashing on it lmao
Idiots. Really. Learn to differ between a demo/unfinished song and a finished one. That's why Michael never wanted stuff like that out in public. Because people just don't understand it's a process and you can't evaluate a demo like that.

So sad to me because I am really thankful to have the possibility to listen to unfinished songs.

"Wasting studio time" isn't a thing , they were experimenting, exploring ideas, that's literally the whole process. So yeah, that part's just not true.

Everything else is fair game though. You can judge a draft even in its early state. It's not a very strong demo, and Mike clearly knew it too. As Bill said, they tried it out, explored the idea, went "nah," and never touched it again. Dropped it very quickly.
