way do we care how much he sells?

i think though, in the end..the thing is (and a few other sentence introductions)... just because a song is playing on the radio, doesn't mean that the artist is doing ok. i remember that tlc was being played on the radio and declaring bankruptcy at the same time.

so...maybe it's because MJ isn't heard on the radio as much..but, it shouldn't worry anyone, cus, there are a lot more complex things going on in the industry, than just radio airplay.

Trust me there are plenty of MJ haters out there who criticise no matter what he does and say things like he never achieved much and he is just a 'song and dance' man etc and plenty of other horrible things. Yet some of those very same 'haters' people secretly have his album tucked away and listen to him on their ipod, that's why them make me laugh sometimes lol.

I dont feel it that way. I feel people have a much more relaxed relationship to MJ now then in the mid 90´s. people like some songs, and some songs thay don´t like. maybe some kid´s dont think it´s cool to like MJ. but thats how it is when you are young. You alway have to listen to the rightt music to be a part of the gang...

I didn't mean kids but adults that are well into their 30's or 40's who I have come across who have behaved that way. However a lot of people's attitude has changed towards MJ after the trial, people tend to speak more positive about him now which is a good thing :).

well becuz i love braggin. becuz normally when sum1 tells me some1 is better then mj i always bring up sells and awards lol. So i honestly do care about sells, especially since they count 2ward chart positions..u guyz have seen my thriller25 collection, wait 4 the new album...it will be even BIGGER!

To the original poster, I think if you thought of it like the box office ticket sales of a movie on the first weekend of its release and the following weeks of it staying on top at #1 or in the Top 5, then you'd guess that was a fantastic movie and maybe you should be thinking about seeing it for yourself while it's still at the theater.

Well, the same almost goes for records, with a few major differences...a CD can be #1 for a longer time than a movie, though the movie makes its money much quicker because of the short timespan it usually stays in the theater.

A movie may not be that GOOD, but the advertised promotion puts it up there for the anticipation of it being GREAT and everybody wants to see it...for the first weekend...then it's on to the next blockbuster that's coming out the next weekend.

But for a CD, the importance of it selling a lot of units is how GREAT it is and how much the public is invested in the artist...the artist of discussion, Michael Jackson. So when you look at it like that, selling a huge number of CDs means the public could buy it up for the simple curiosity of what it sounds like or the public could buy it up because it sounds GREAT and it means more to the buyer than just buying it out of curiosity.

It's the making of something that's loved and talked about and everybody wants it, got to have it and can't get enough of it.

So how much it sells can be looked at in different ways but it's boiled down to the love of the product...that product being Michael's talent and hard work being given it's props for the major accomplishment and consumer satisfaction.

I'd bet that most people who go the movies on the first day to see a suspected blockbuster more than not come out feeling like they wasted their money, but that can only be judged by the second week totals...that may undoubtedly drop miserably, but that movie made millions because of the anticipation of the movie goer thinking it's a hit.

What we as fans love to see for Michael, is that the sells don't drop miserably the second week because we want the CD to remain on top and to remain on the top the sells have to be HOT, HOTTER and HOTTEST of anything else on the shelves!

Oh yeah...We Love Him, and like it's been said...For the Bragging.

I think my Michael has been too concerned with sales for a very long time. I think he tries too hard sometimes, and would be better trying to do something more artistic, adult (i mean grown-up rather than sexual here), and personal. Notice how for some time now, he always wants to work with the current "hot" producers, etc.

i don't konow.maybe because the media takes the sales as an indicator...

Why ? you think michael has never done a personal album ,something more artistic , so what do you think about History , Dangerous ? i mean i don't understand your statement:

"I think he tries too hard sometimes , and would better trying to do something more artistic, adult (grown up than sexual ) ? "

Are you saying he has never done something like that ,"adult" ? "sexual" ? which album do you speak about ?

and "Invincible"?

well obviously being "horny" for Michael- the artist/ man very often oveshadows the man's music and art overall... shame because
and that is the way he communicates with the world
