The whole The Kick Inside album is epic! Every song. All the lyrics. She was only 19 (wrote the songs even earlier) yet such a mature artist... Her first four albums are masterpieces imo, especially The Kick Inside and The Dreaming. I always think of Michael when "Man with the child in his eyes" starts playing...

She's not my peep but I always had massive admiration for her as an artist. The way she took control of her career. She seems to have done things on her terms as far as I can tell. Not sure bc, as I said, she's not one of my peeps so I wasn't paying a huge amount of attention. Her music is not for me. But she always seemed to walk her own path even from the very beginning. A great inspiration, I would think, for other artists, especially females. She's very attractive but never seemed to be marketed as a 'babe'. I assume that was her refusing to go down that road.

Still remember seeing her on TOTP for the first time, doing WH. Epic!

I hate to be that person but yes, Running Up That Hill is overplayed. Good that people my age (and younger) had the chance to get to know her maybe through that song and TikTok but I'm a bit sick of it. Never really loved this particular one.

Cloudbusting is better but my favourite from the album are: Mother Stands For Comfort, The Big Sky, Under Ice, Waking the Witch and Hello Earth. Those are timeless for me.

OK, her debut appearance I posted. All fine and dandy. But my fave performance - mimed, not live, IIRC - was her wearing a red dress (not the 'red dress' red dress, iyswim). She also had a little hat on, sort of halfway between a beanie hat and a yarmulke! But it's not on YT. There is an episode of her wearing a similar hat, she's sitting at the piano. That's not 'my' version. It just doesn't seem to be there.

This is unacceptable. Every couple of years I search for it. So far, in vain. It just never turns up. I think they wiped it. Pah!

I'm not on TikTok, I just see its impact from 3rd person's perspective. But I do watch ig shorts a couple minutes a day, basically the same thing but stuff appears on it a bit later, I guess.
