Oh, how to answer this question!

I haven't seen the stage show so I only knew the absolute basics of the story. Ngl, I didn't love the film but I am going to see it again. Definitely would have been back at least one more time already except I've been ill. Hopefully will be going again this week. I need to see it again in the cinema bc imo it has to be watched on the biggest screen available. Nothing else will do.

It looks beautiful. Ariana is great. It has been quite funny reading the reviews from people gushing over how good Ariana's singing is. They must not have been paying attention, lol. Cynthia is amazing. The staging is wonderful, cinematography is out of this world. It is epic. Personally, I don't think it's going to become a classic like the Judy Garland film but ... whatever! How long has the stage show been around? Is it 20 years now? Something like that. I think the film will def have a cult afterlife just for the singalong screenings, if nothing else.

The costumes are fabulous (look online for photos of Ariana's/Galinda's shoes). One reason I have to go back is for the bit where Elphaba throws her cloak behind her (the Defying Gravity scene). It's lasts for a micro second but I would trade the entire film for that one moment. It is beyond.
