I didn't intend you to disagree. Of course MJ archived all of his stuff, and would consult prior material. Still, depending on your criteria, arguably it wasn't that much stuff that would make the final album listings. Take HIStory for example. Earth Song & TDCAU, and Little Susie, Come Together, those songs had history, but songs like Scream and This Time Around, D.S, were newer. Also, Invincible ended up with a lot of recent material. Like in every release, some material would have had a long history already, but a lot of it was often made more recently in the specific album making process.I completely disagree seeing how he'd rework on songs for over 20 years, The Toy and Best Of Joy are the prime examples.
I didn't elaborate but when I said I'd hope he bring the best of the best, I meant songs like Best of Joy. I'm sure he'd pick some vintage tracks and also work with current producers/songwriters to make material in the current time period. But never would he ever make an album of nothing but BAD or Thriller outtakes, or even really throwbacks like that at all, at least I think. That seemed to be the way he worked based on patterns.
