I'm looking at this photo and something boggles my mind:

Rodney seems slimmer in this photo (and Michael too), which makes me think it was taken after 2005.

Rodney was way fatter during Invincible era - example:

In the photo above he was at the 30th anniversary concerts.

So did they meet in the studio after 2005 and work on some songs and ideas?

They did, Rodney said that they met again in 2006 (he says they met in 2007 in Ireland but MJ had already moved out of there by then so I think he mixed up the year). I don't know if they made new songs or not.

Another giveaway that this was after 2005 is the flat screen computer monitor in the background, in the early 2000s that would have still been a big body CRT monitor.

Seen that photo in passing before but didn't even think about the possibility of it not being during invincible sessions.

I'm curious if MJ was just showing him some stuff as he often did with people or if they actually worked on anything.

There's about 5 unreleased songs left from Rodney Jerkins that are on a releasable state, 4 if we don't count GYWOOM. What if any of those 4 songs are from after Invincible? Interesting thing to consider.
