they were seagulls there must have been a colony near by which got disturbed because they did the same thing at about 3.30am and seagulls come in a variety of sizes (at least they do in the UK i dunno about the Netherlands). Possibly the Kittiwake but could have just been the common gull being so close to the river Thames you get both breeds in the area. (sorry about the excessive info but had to do a survey of wild birds in east London for my uni course last year)
I really don't think they were Seagulls because I saw them with my own eyes and they were too small. Also, seagulls make so much noise - this happend in the minute of silence and at one point they were fairly close. I wouldn't rule out pigeons because they would be about that size and the lights over the stage may have made them look white. Whatever they were - the were very graceful, their timing was amazing and like others have mentioned I also felt goosebumps. Perhaps it was Michael letting us know that he is finally resting in peace, I certainly hope so.
